The northern group was controlled by Tu'i Haapai and Tui Vava'u. The two clans (Haa Ngata and Haa Havea Lahi) that appoint Aleamotua as King were not Christian and they appoint Aleamotua as a compromise for him not to become Christian. Once he was secured as Tui Kanokupolu he became Christian and lost the support of the clans but was protected by his grand nephew the Tui Vavau and Tui Haapai, Taufaahau who later became King George the Tui Kanokupolu have to fight off the others in order to unify Tonga under Christianity. 14.1.84.250 (talk) 11:40, 7 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
