Conspiracy Theory?

edit

In the part about Griboyedov's death, the article doesn't mention anything about giving asylum to Armenians from the Shah's harem and instead claims his death was the result of something the British ambassador did.. isn't this a conspiracy theory? I haven't ever seen a bit of proof that the British had anything to do with it. Mouravi 03:40, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Pushkin/Griboyedov

edit

Worth checking the date quoted (28 June 1829) from the monument commemorating the encounter with Griboyedov's body described in Chapter 2 of Pushkin's "Journey to Arzrum". In Pushkin's narrative the incident belongs to 11/23 June, the date most likely to have been used by those who put the monument up. 23 June may have been mistranscribed as 28.

Griboydov's work as a composer

edit

Would be nice to have some information on his work as an amateur composer. I know of at least two piano pieces (the Waltzes in A-Flat Major and E Minor), which I understand are still popular in Russia. Northtowner (talk) 23:28, 1 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Aleksander GriboyedovAlexander Griboyedov – Per WP:ENGLISH WP:COMMONNAME, move to Alexander Griboyedov or Alexander Sergeyevich Griboyedov.

This is not even a close thing. The EB 9th edition's "Griboyedoff" may be out of fashion but the guy's English name is Alexander; failing that, his Russian name is Aleksandr without the E. The current placement is a mistake.  — LlywelynII 04:41, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

There is a reference to this incident where the grandson of the Shah was at the Russian Court presenting regrets for the incident in the movie Russian Ark. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crazyhorse2000 (talkcontribs) 16:16, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Translation Expansion

edit

This article's Russian alternative is incredibly expansive and I will begin the process of moving the information on Wiki Russia to Wiki English. Likewise, I plan on including a Composition section, as this is absent. He had composed waltzes and the like, thus I think it's imperative to properly showcase his compositional work alongside his military successes and various achievements. Post mortem portrait

edit

I think it is a major detail and it is worth adding that the portrait of Griboyedov used as an illustration for the article was produced long after Griboyedov's death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gorgedweller (talkcontribs) 09:32, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
