editSeeing as there is more than one Alfonso of Toulouse, I'd prefer to see this moved to Alphonse of Poitiers or Alfonso III of Toulouse or some such thing. Srnec 23:52, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Alfonso?
editI've never heard of Hispanicizing the names of Frenchmen before. john k (talk) 19:37, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- He's called Alfonso in both Hallam's Capetian France and in (the translation of) Duby's France in the Middle Ages. I assume he was named for his maternal grandfather Alfonso VIII of Castile. I'd have to do more digging to see if Alphonse, Alfonse, or Alfonso is more common. I'm pretty sure, however, that he is most often called "... of Poitiers", though "... Count of Poitou" may be more consistent with the names of other wikipedia articles. Loren Rosen (talk) 07:15, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Why not "Count of Poitiers"? john k (talk) 17:06, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
