Yuri??
editI have read the entire article twice, and I can't realize any signs of Shojo-ai in the series. So, why the article is in the category Yuri? Did I overlook something? I was really scared when I first saw that.200.71.174.1 03:20, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
REPLY: I came to this discussion because i saw no mentioning what so ever of the yuri aspects. Having watched the anime I disagree that Mikan's affections for Natsume were anything more than on a brother to sister level. (Slight spoiler alert!!) After all she was shown to be laying in bed dreaming of Hotaru while hugging and kissing on a pillow and calling out her name. There is even a very very minor character named Yuri whose alice is the ability to attract girls, go figure. While the romance between Mikan and Hotaru is mostly subtle its clearly there, and at times is quite blatant. From the beginning Mikan is obsessed with being near Hotaru, and Hotaru is shown to return the affection in her own sometimes very surprising way. Rather than bring up and potentially spoil all the good cute romantic bits for the purpose of justifying my opinions I'll leave it with this.. If your a fan of cute romantic girl-lovey anime you will most likely be glad you watched. ^^ Also it has a nice story and is very easy to watch.
Its worth mentioning that it has some slight yaoi aspects between Natsume and Ruka as well.
I'm actually kind of confused why none of this is not mentioned at all in the main article page??
72.147.172.222 09:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for those points; in fact, I noticed that someone (I don't know if it was you) took out this article from the category Yuri. Good choice, because if we base on mere infatuations among female characters to portrait this series as yuri, we would have to do the same with Cardcaptor Sakura, a series of the shojo genre (regardless of the yuri and yaoi signs). 200.71.186.240 19:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Re do the page
editThis page could be better. The explanation are too long and we could with some good pictures. And the main picture is... it doesn't explain "Alice Academy".
Page move
editI agree with the rename, but isn't there a more proper procedure for renaming articles rather than copy & paste? —Tokek 11:32, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- That is what the 'move' button is for. However, now there is a history at the other end it probably won't be possible without administrator intervention. Shiroi Hane

Other Discussions
editI have a question: Isn't Tobita Yuu a female? 67.82.102.128 16:18, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Nope obviously not... ---203.131.83.36 06:40, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Bart Simpson is voiced by Nancy Cartwright and Charlie Brown has been voiced by Erin Chase so the practice of using adult women to provide the voices for animated preadolescent boys is not a purely Japanese practice. The problem is that Yuu's voice actress (in the Japanese Anime and not the Animax dub) voices him like a little girl. Given that the character is already somewhat wimpy, this tends to throw off the occasional fan.
Star Ranking
editMikan's Zero-star soup is no doubt miso.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miso_soup "In Japan, miso soup and white rice make up the traditional Japanese breakfast,"
The Rabbit currency is an invention of the Anime and is not found in the Manga. The conversion factor is one Rabbit = 100 Yen which is about equal to one American dollar. In the Manga the students are issued Yen (at this conversion rate from the amounts listed), which are far more likely to be useful outside the Academy grounds (should they ever escape).
I think that the below information is very illuminating. Could it be moved to the main page, please? I do think further discussion on the Academy itself (the "caste system" (star system), strict segregation from the "outside world", opinion of students from a young age that Alices are superior to others, etc) would also be beneficial...but this is definitely great. :)Jennkei 14:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
I thought that Mikan got one bowl of rice with a seewead thingy on top. I don't think she got soup. Are we talking about the anime or manga?68.110.232.148 21:39, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Shape vs Type of Alice
editYou are mixing up two different concepts here. Both Natsume and the creator of Mr. Bear have an Alice Shape that drains their own lives, but the other guy isn't a Dangerous Ability Alice.
Also almost any of the Alices can have lethal impacts. (Imagine Mikan nullifying Ruka's Alice while he's being buddies with a dangerous animal.)
I personally favor the Animax dub names for the Alice Types.
Technical Ability: Their creations (robots, drawings, stuffed animals, cooking, chemistry, music, etc.) have strange features.
Latent Ability: Traditional psionic powers. (Reading minds, projecting mental illusions, telekinesis, fortune telling, clairvoyance, teleportation through space, projecting lightning bolts, flight, wall walking, etc.)
Somatic type: Alices that modify the user's own body. (Dog ears, pheromones, controlling other people with your voice, super speed running, etc.)
Special Ability: Alices that don't fit into the above categories. (Teleportation through both space and time, voice power that only causes people to laugh, control of people through their shadows, the ability to project rain, etc.)
Dangerous Ability: An Alice of any of the above types that the facility consider dangerous.
Other than for Meta-Alices (Alices that only work on other Alices), such as Mikan's, the Special Ability class shouldn't exist and Dangerous Ability is more of a social control than a scientific classification.
Alice Shape (or Form) is an entirely different topic.
Every Alice (of whatever class) is of one of four shapes, that specify how much of it can be used and how often.
Childhood Alice: They start out as an Alice but grow up to be an ordinary adult.
Diffuse: The Alice is always available, but at a relatively low power level.
Intermittent: The Alice can only be used for a short period at any time, but at a relatively high power level.
Limitless: The Alice can be used as often and as much as desired, but each use impacts against the user's own life and can kill them if overused.
So Natsume is actually a Limitless Latent Ability Alice of Fire who has been reclassified as Dangerous Ability Alice. (Even though his power is only slightly more dangerous than say Mr. Jinno's.)
Mikan is harder to classify, but I bet her Alice Shape is Diffuse as she doesn't have any problems blocking mind control Alices whenever they are used against her. (She must be using some sort of Alice judo to turn higher power level Alices against themselves so she doesn't have to match the power level of the Alices she defends against.)
Overall Alice power levels seem to be increasing over time, as the student's can generally over match the teachers when they have the same general type of Alice, but this may be due to a limited sample size. (Or perhaps the Academy is breeding up higher Alice power levels to give Japan a WMD program...)
- SPOILER ALERT* --different user
Mikan is not a Diffuse, she is an Intermittent. Proven in the manga. All I have to say about what type Mikan is, I won't give any more spoilers.
Cleanup
editReally, i think this article needs a cleanup...
Edits
editI just went and fixed some grammar, as well as fixed some of the wording to look better.
Subcategories
editThis idea is a bit of expanding as well as cleanup, but rather than just all character descriptions, maybe give simple stats for characters and then have subcatergories for different story arcs, abilities, schools, explanation of the world, etc. -AliceC 06:59, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think the old page was better. I don`t mind the cleanup but what happened to the table? And some of the character's pictures are missing. Could someone restore the table and the char. pics as well?

Second Season???
editOk...let me clear this up for once! There's NO 2nd season for GA! All the picture around internet are from the PS2 game. I played it and they are images created for the game ONLY! When and IF there'll be a 2nd season IT WILL BE FIRSTLY ANNOUNCED ON HANA TO YUME MAGAZINE and right now THERE'S NO NEWS ABOUT IT. Thus all this that lasted 2 YEARS is just a rumor that has become bigger day after day! Look at the truth! It's just some fanatic and ignorant GA-fan who used "GA PS2 game" pictures as a proof of a FALSE 2nd season. So please STOP THE RUMOR!
As proof, here the game and the famour scene of the kiss in the game, I repeat, A GAME that has nothing to do with the serie nor the anime: http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=2OT4FEDzbl8
Isn't there going to be a second season? So there would be more than 26 episodes. The second season has been aired in places around the world already.76.160.161.135 12:38, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Obviously no second season.
How do you know? The ending of 26 isn't very good for a wrap up, and there are rumors they will make up to 54 or 56 episodes in all. Also, I have been informed from research that the second season has aired in Japan. It will take a few more months or a year for it to come out in other places.68.110.232.148 00:57, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

They released a gaming consoles not the anime season 2...but i don't say they were not going to make one!! well, i think they will definitely making one because the story is too good & still not finished, allot of mysteries haven't revealed yet ... [like who's the real mikan's parents and i think, i've seen mikan's true power only "once"...when she was trying to stop natsume on attacking hotaru...] all we need to do is to wait... hehe (or try to send an email to them Aniplex & Group TAC) - ミゲル / miguel | Talk 13:00, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
Excuse me, but there is a second season.
- My friend lives in Japan and has watched the second season.
- I know several people online that have watched the second season from Japan.
- Several people online have posted pictures from the second season.
With the best regards, there is a second season.Nightflower 14:28, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, excuse me Nightflower-san but there ISN'T a second season.
- A couple of my friends live in Japan and they would've known if it was there. What your friend saw was probably just re-runs of the first season.
- There is NO second season so nobody can watch it. Simple as that.
- Those pictures that you're talking about are most likely from the PS2 Game, Gakuen Alice: Kira Kira Memory Kiss. The pictures from that game seem very much like they would be from the anime but it's not. Either that or they were very well made fan pictures.
- If there were a second season, it would be ALL OVER youtube. There are so many die-hard Gakuen Alice fans that it would be on youtube the second that it would be out.
- There would be promos and notices on TV, HanaYume, and on Higuchi Tachibana-sama's site.
So, sorry to say, there is NOT a second season of Gakuen Alice. I am shooting for #1 fan so I want the second season just as much as everyone else but that doesn't seem to be happening now, does it? Everyone loves to dream but there's a line where people should stop and not spread rumors about their dreams. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gakuen Alice Fan811 (talk • contribs) 01:46, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- yup...they currently airing the "Gakuen Alice" Anime 1-26 in here... re-broadcast date started: 6/3/2007 Gakuen Alice Rebroadcast Sched(Source)...Sorry! but not the Anime 2nd Season
- you're right! there's allot of Photos from the Manga 2nd season and not the Anime
- anyway, If There’s a anime 2nd season, There HAS some trailer/preview not only the photos ^_^

Um... Didn't they like lose money so they can't or something??? Nevermind567 04:44 pm, July 13 2007 there is new chaacter called luna and to me i think that i dont want her to be in the anime beacuse she trys to breakup the friendship that mikan and natsume have together! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.231.39.38 (talk) 23:11, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
There is no second season. Really. Those pictures of the "second season" are from the game or they're fan-made. No second season. At least not planned, yet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.56.87.198 (talk) 20:50, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, i really2 hope there will be 2nd season, but i think there probably no 2nd season cause there still no real information bout it,but even though there will be no 2nd season, the manga still continue (latest chapter : 100 n the relationship between mikan n her friends -specially natsume- still continue), at least if the manga still goes well n good, i won't protest - i hope the rumor bout' someone will die -natsume perhaps NOT- is fake - —Preceding unsigned comment added by L3phAnA (talk • contribs) 05:31, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
duh! Please tell me which one is the Truth! I live in Indonesia and I'm so tired of waiting. I want to see the part when natsume kiss mikan in the anime! re: second season: I would very much like a second season, but there will not be anything any time soon. Those pictures are from Kira Kira Memory Kiss if you see Natsume eating an apple or this brown-haired girl in the academy. Though there has been rumors for September 2008, it's very unlikely since Higuichi-san has not announced it even on her website. I've heard the possibility of May 2009, maybe a bit more sensible, but still there's no sign of season 2. It's 2016 and there is still no second season of GA. I am so sad I really wish they would make it but it has been YEARS, I still rewatch the anime but every time it ends I get depressed because I feel like there will never be another season. Does anybody know the reason for this? Has Higuchi-San gave an explanation as to why there is only one season? Please please I need them to continue!! Its been years now. And also does anyone know what year the manga finished? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.171.166.253 (talk) 09:38, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Changing the Main Image
editI Think We should change the main image ( the front gates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Gakuen_alice.jpg) ) to a more specific one. For example, the manga cover or the anime logo itself.
-PBCNX 19:46, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
- I like the idea of the logo but I don't know what the logo looks like. Replace the gates with the logo if you find a fair use image please. --Squilibob 06:02, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Please add something about the manga of Gakuen Arisu/Alice Academy!
editWhy is this article doesn't have anything much about the manga? I checked the Chinese page for Alice Academy and it has even more info than the article in this Wikipedia.
Can someone help with this? Also, please add the ISBN for the Japanese version of the manga.
I added some info on alice stone colours in the character's list.

Fair use rationale for Image:Narumi.jpg
editImage:Narumi.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Confusion in the main article Alice Academy and List of Alice Academy characters
editIt seems that there has been a confusion happening here. A user has added information about the characters in the main page, Alice Academy.
The information should go to the List of Alice Academy characters. The information has many speculative sentences and with some comments of the user itself, and if the user needs help, please say so and I'll be happy to do it and remove the information accordingly and add it into the List of Alice Academy characters.
- Lastly, Wikipedia is not a diary and since this is a major edit, so the user should have consult other users here first. Thank you. Samantha Lim88 10:19, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Live Action Drama???
editis there a LAD based on the manga? i've seen pictures, but thats all. if there is can someone tell me its name, please.
Names of the Alice types
editI think that we should follow the Animax dub according to the names. It should be "Somatic types" instead of "Active ability" What does "Active" really mean here in this case?
Furthemore, why "Technology ability", while it should be "Technical types". "Technology" shouldn't be the correct term. Take the Alice of Cooking for example, not all Alices in the Technology Ability can invent stuff like Hotaru's Alice of Invention.
Who would like to give his/her opinion, please reply at my talk page, I don't check this page very often so I can't know if someone replied here.
Samantha Lim88 01:21, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- And why the Animax dub? Just tell me. Animax does not even air in the United States, so we can use any "nomenclature" (I didn't find any other term) for the names and all that, for example the one in the article. Twicemost 22:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
New Categories: Terminology and Story arcs
editI propose adding the mentioned categories as even though there have been a lot of mentions of terminology like 'alice stones', their colours and arcs like the 'Hana Princess arc' there have been next to no information on what actually happened then unless you comb through the extremely long list of characters for information. There might also need to be a section on important dates and events like Valentines, Christmas and the sports carnival. If there are no objections I will gladly start the sections. well for my own understanding the cooking alice is placed in the technical or technological type beacause this person can create diff. types of foods.....so in short its like hotoru's alice which creates something useful for them to do......and the cooking alice creates foods that the person can be relaxed what their likings are..... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.87.202.142 (talk) 12:42, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

editHas anyone noticed that weird pig student that appears throughout the manga? Or noticed that when Narumi is eating an apple outside Alice Academy in volume 1 that is has a crying face on it? There's lots more, so I'm thinking about putting up a new part to the Gakuen Alice article called "Trivia". Anyone agree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aprilworsley (talk • contribs) 23:31, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Article names
editThis article is called "Gakuen Alice". The article for the characters is called "List of Alice Academy characters". For the sake of consistency, we should use either "Gakuen Alice" or "Alice Academy" for both articles. I'm not sure which is more appropriate, but here is the relevant Manual of Style page. Please discuss. —tktktk 18:34, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Gakuen Alice as both English manga & anime adaptation go by that name see [3] [4]. The characters list has to be renamed. --KrebMarkt 21:05, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Second season citation
editThe page says (Under the anime section) that the second season is "currently airing in Japan and is most likely to air in America next year" but there is no reference for it. I know that there's been a massive debate about this, but this information surely shouldn't be there without some kind of source. Does anybody have absolute concrete evidence that the second season exists? Because if not, this information needs to go. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FlipsidePro09 (talk • contribs) 14:34, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Edit: The official Japanese website for Gakuen Alice doesn't say anything about a second season. It mentions the game, and it says that the original series is currently airing on terrestrial television, but it says nothing about a second season. Surely if there was a second season, it would be pretty big news on the main page. FlipsidePro09 (talk) 14:40, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Edit: I deleted the information regarding the second season as extensive searching around the internet has revealed just rumours and petitions. Until the official Japanese page says something about it, this information should not be on the page. FlipsidePro09 (talk) 14:58, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Differences
editDo we really need to have a "Differences between the manga and anime" category? In other articles like School Rumble, the differences are covered under "Media". There isn't a lot of information under that heading in this article, though. Lalilala1357 (talk) 19:50, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
