He technically did not debut at NXT Takeover: Dallas as this was a dark match not televised. This line should be revised. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.38.209.220 (talk) 16:34, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

La Sombra (wrestler)Andrade "Cien" Almas – He has been already known and Andrade "Cien" Almas for a bit of time, he has his WWE.com profile, he is 1 time NXT Champion and he is already better good known with this name. TheBellaTwins1445 (talk) 22:53, 4 December 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. Jenks24 (talk) 11:06, 12 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose - he's been known as La Sombra for longer from June 2007 to November 2015, under one of the top 2 Mexican wrestling companies (CMLL) and in the top Japanese wrestling company (NJPW). He's won numerous championships in CMLL and the Intercontinental title in NJPW. Whereas in WWE he's still in developmental (the lower leagues). His previous longevity and successes are just too much to ignore at this point. I would wait until he gets promoted to the main roster (the big leagues), then he will have far more exposure. starship.paint ~ KO 08:23, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a fan forum. An article should be titled by the most widely-known and familiar name, not just given a rushed change because a couple of people are desperate to update everything to whatever WWE happens to be naming everything this week. That's what prowrestling.wikia.com and other such sites are for. 88.145.197.225 (talk) 13:37, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 8 April 2018

edit
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved but without the quotes, as there seemed to be enough opposition to it based in policies and guidelines, and some of the supports that explicitly mentioned the title excluded quotes. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:22, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

La Sombra (wrestler)Andrade "Cien" Almas – Lots of unregistered users try to change the title of his page, he is already a 1 time NXT Champion, he already has three years with the name, he is already better known like this, he has its WWE.com profile. TheBellaTwins1445 (talk) 21:58, 8 April 2018 (UTC)--Relisting.usernamekiran(talk) 21:21, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support - I also feel this article as a whole gives too much weight to his career in Mexico, largely due to the edits of one user who seems to revert most changes that are made to the page. 86.3.174.49 (talk) 19:46, 9 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • 80% of his career has been in Mexico so far, so "too much weight" is a very WWE-centric mindset. If encylopedic, sourced content that is not just a week-to-week recap of his storylines it would not get deleted.  MPJ-DK  23:24, 9 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • I have certainly not added a week-to-week recap. This article was only created in July 2015, his career in Mexico was clearly not deemed notable until that point and he signed with WWE just months later (at which point the article's monthly average pageviews were multiplied by a factor of 6). I don't have a problem with the in-depth coverage but I feel there is a deliberate attempt to keep this page as 'non-WWE' as possible, you have opposed name changes despite the fact that 99% of the global audience would know him as Almas and even repeatedly prevented a summary of his WWE career being added to the opening section. 86.3.174.49 (talk) 13:59, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • So much fail above. 1) Created in 2009, I created it, 2) your argument is that a subject is not notable until it has an article is wrong 3) what do you think is missing from his time in NXT? What storyline or significant match is missing? I am really curious to know what you think is being deleted repeatedly??  MPJ-DK  21:09, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Additional fail, i have not opposed any name change this time around, please try to keep your comments in line with what I have actually said or done.  MPJ-DK  22:12, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  •   Comment: @MPJ-DK: I am okay with it not being moved. But naming convention is go with what he is best known as. But if you compare La Sombra to Andrade "Cien" Almas [1], you can see La Sombra gets more hits. So that right there could tell one to leave it as it is. But his character La Sombra is no longer the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. So that could lead it to being changed. But again, I'm okay with it not being changed. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 19:25, 10 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Sorry if I was unclear, my comment was directed towards the comment on the content of the article, not the name. I am borderline right now on the naje, if he gets called up i am totally okay with Almas as the name.  MPJ-DK  21:41, 10 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Comparing page hits for a redirect (and not even the correct redirect) to the current article title is just a really bizarre thing to do. The overwhelming majority of links (including Google searches and List of WWE personnel) link to La Sombra and not the redirect, that really is not the way to determine whether a page should be moved. 86.3.174.49 (talk) 13:59, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Strongly support: The name "La Sombra" is slowly becoming unpopular, people will now see him and remember him as "Andrade Almas". Even old wrestling fans will forget who La Sombra is until they are reminded that he is now "Andrade "Cien" Almas"...even if he wrestled as La Sombra longer than as Almas per WP:COMMONNAME. Hansen Sebastian 02:56, 17 April 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hansen Sebastian (talkcontribs)
  • While there may be enough support for this move to go through, it is currently in the WP:RM backlog. One reason may be WP:STAGENAME, which states: "Page names are hardly suitable to clarify, explain or in any other way elaborate on the composition of a name. Notable distinctions can be explained in the article, but avoid (for example) adding a nickname, or a contracted version of the original given name(s), in quotes between first and last name." Nicknames or stagenames can be further explained in the first instance of reference to the subject in the article, but if we were to follow the advice of the naming convention, should this be Cien Almas or Andrade Almas? Or Cien (wrestler)? Or is he consistently referred to by all three names together in running text/reliable sources? Dekimasuよ! 18:55, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
We have just a few articles with nicknames. Noone uses the "". Superstar Billy Graham Stone Cold Steve Austin Nightmare Danny Davis Dangerous Danny Davis --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 16:47, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • But "Cien" is just a nickname. I get it, Stone Cold is a nickname too. But naming conventions are you don't put nicknames in the article title. You wouldn't have Jerry Lawler's article as Jerry "The King" Lawler. Why is Almas exempt? I am still okay with it being moved or not being moved. If it does get moved, stick with naming conventions and the style guide and don't add nicknames to the article title. The issue is whether to stick with La Sombra as it currently stands or move it to Andrade Almas not that it should be moved to Andrade "Cien" Almas. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 22:18, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • No, his ring name is Andrade "Cien" Almas. That's how he is listed on his official profile, match listings, roster pages and everything else. Look at List of WWE personnel or the sources I posted earlier, no other wrestler has a nickname listed as part of their ring name in that way. They don't say "The Viper" Randy Orton for example but they do say Andrade "Cien" Almas, because that's his ring name. Yes, it's an unusual ring name, but that is what it is. Not sure what discussion you're looking at but this one is to move this page to Andrade "Cien" Almas, 'Andrade Almas' is not in consideration. 86.3.174.49 (talk) 22:41, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
It's not in line with that. It's says to avoid single and double quotations. Did you you even read that before trying to use that in your argument? Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 07:03, 25 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it explicitly states that quotation marks are appropriate if it's a proper title or required by orthography, in this case it's actually both. As has now been explained to you multiple times, Andrade "Cien" Almas is the correct ring name and the correct title for this article and we have consensus for this move. 86.3.174.49 (talk) 18:30, 25 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Lorstaking: If you read WP:TSC, you will clearly see it says to avoid double or single quotations. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 07:17, 25 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reid Flair - brother in law?

edit

Is it really accurate to list Reid Flair as Andrade's brother-in-law in the infobox? Reid sadly died nine years before his sister married Andrade and probably quite a few years before she even met him. If you marry someone and they had a brother who died years previously, does that brother become your brother-in-law even though they are dead......? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:15, 25 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

based on this link: https://www.cagematch.net/?id=5&nr=5146 (which already ref in the championship) => change the promotion name to "Cinta de Oro Promotions" (El Idolo won this title 27.11.2023 and lost the title on 21.12.2023, also the history name of promotion (on the link) wrote that: Cinta de Oro Promotions (27.11.2023 - today) => so it should be "Cinta de Oro Promotions")

and of course, "International Open Challenge World Championship" is the name of the championship, not a wrestling promotion name (not exist).
