Conflicting Rutbah Info

edit

I have a source at my disposal, The Story of the Arab Legion, written by John Bagot Glubb "Pasha Glubb" who was actually there, which conflicts with the current information written in the "Rutbah" section of this page. My source suggests that there were roughly 100 police occupying the garrison when they arrived, and only a few of these were Iraqi Desert Police. It also says that the bombing began on the 8th May when the Arab Legion originally arrived. And it was on the evening of the 9th May when a support column arrived, consisting of roughly 40 vehicles. Half of these were under the command of Fawzi al-Qawuqji, whereas half of them were Iraqi Desert Police. It certainly does not suggest that Fawzi al-Qawuqji was already at the fort before the 9th May, and it also imperatively states that only a "few" of the original garrison were Iraqi Desert Police, the rest being local police. The section also fails to mention the involvement of Michael Casson and his No. 2 RAF Armoured Car Company in taking the fort. They are the explanation of why the Iraqis suddenly just up and abandon the place.

Is it all right for me to change the section, as long as it is sourced properly, as it is my belief that my source is more likely to be correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrewdwilliams (talkcontribs) 14:30, 1 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

If there are conflicting versions, it might be best to put both. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 13:32, 15 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

A suggestion.

I believe the addition of information regarding Iraqi military personnel (I.e., photographs, commander's biographies, military equipment, etc.) would help the article greatly, as such, if anyone finds photographs of Iraqi soldiers or lists of their weapons, information regarding commanding officers or the likes, please add it to the article. If no one else will, I'll see what I can do. Unfortunately, for about half a week, I will be busy and thus unable to add anything to the article, as such, if no one adds this in 3-4 days, I'll accept responsibility over the task and will attempt completion.
