Second person to win back to back titles?

edit

I may be confused about the specifics but according to both this page and the page for Rich Froning Jr, ms. thorisdottir is listed as having been the second person to win back to back championships at the crossfit games. However both pages also state that both individuals won their titles in 2011 and 2012. Is there an objection of some sort to changing this wording to state that they reached this achievement simultaneously, or at least during the same seasons? It seems unfair that she should be described as the second person to do this. As far as I can tell the mens' and womens' events occur in the same 3-day period so a hypothetical technical argument resting on the men's ceremony being first or something wouldn't even hold water.

I am going to watch this page for comments for a couple of days, and if no objections are raised I am going to change it. Andrewsmash (talk) 16:23, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Moving this page

edit

Please don't move this page to Anníe Þórisdóttir. She spells her name "Annie Thorisdottir" on her personal (English) website, and on Twitter. This is also the spelling used by the Crossfit Games website (the reason she's notable is that she's won the Crossfit Games twice). The English-speaking world knows her as Annie Thorisdottir, and that is the only appropriate spelling on the English Wikipedia. Please feel free to add an article to the Icelandic Wikipedia at [1]. I really don't care how her name is spellt by CrossFit or other insignificant sources. Per norm, we've always listed the names of Icelandic people with proper letters and accents. Look at the relevant entries and articles. Nevertheless, the "English-speaking world" does not know her at all. What a hype! We can even question her notability. To the extent that she is notable, I don't see how you can argue that CrossFit is an insignificant source: as I said, that's what she's known for (I don't know the notability threshold very well, but given the level of media attention she has received, I'd be surprised if you succeed in getting the article deleted as failing to meet it). Further, it doesn't appear that you're correct that there's a uniform convention. And of all the English-language articles about her, I challenge you to find one that uses the Icelandic spelling. Given that this is an English-language article, I think the sources leave no wiggle room. Rracecarr (talk) 19:20, 5 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ah...cut and paste move back what a mess. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:17, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Annie ThorisdottirAnníe Mist Þórisdóttir – Per subject's preference (WP:BLP) and apparent consensus at Talk:Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, Talk:Eiður Guðjohnsen. Clavdia chauchat (talk) 20:17, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Support - I'm sorely tempted to just move it and close, since all Icelandic BLPs are at Icelandic spellings and this is a distraction from the more important question of BLP notability. I note that there isn't a sport-specific WikiProject tag on the header. What sport project does "CrossFit" come under? In ictu oculi (talk) 05:06, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Note that the Iceland press sources provided by Clavdia added to article, evidently does pass WP:GNG in Icelandic sources - even if the "sport" itself is a bit dicey. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:16, 27 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
