Which meaning
editZu = far? Or Zu = 'to know'... Can't see a reference for 'Zu' meaning 'far' in Sumerian. The ETCSL gives it as the verb 'to know': http://etcsl.orinst.ox.ac.uk/edition2/etcslgloss.php?lookup=c1815.138&charenc=gcirc, I'm going to be bold and make an edit, but appreciate another source may well give 'far'. Since one isn't yet cited however I think one ought to be for a revert. --AntonChanning (talk) 15:15, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Article title should be Anzu
editI've never encountered the Anzu bird being referred to as “Zu”. We should refer to him as he is referred to everywhere else, as either Anzu or Imdugud. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.175.210 (talk) 21:51, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
George Smith (assyriologist) referred Anzu as Zu. See: http://books.google.it/books?id=n3F4SMrYNkYC&pg=PA40&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false -[Skydrake] (talk) 12:16, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- It should be noted that the syllable An is usually used to denote a deity or divine being. It’s used more as a title. For example, it precedes the symbol for Inanna in order to designate her as a goddess, but her name is not usually translated as “Aninanna”. I’m unclear on why the written name “(An) Imdugud” is translated as AnZu or Zu. This is stated in the article lede but not sourced. The cuneiform given reads “(An) Immi” not (An) Zu. If this is meant to be pronounced Anzu it should have an explanation with a source. I think there’s also some confusion between Akkadian and Sumerian going on here...Dinoguy2 (talk) 14:22, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

editFirst we have 𒀭𒉎𒈪𒄷, then we get more often found as 𒀭𒉎𒂂𒄷 . more often found as suggests that a variant form is to follow. For the life of me I cannot tell the difference 24.132.16.40 (talk) 10:20, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
