Aomori Prefectural Aomori High School → Aomori High School – Firstly, the "Aomori Prefectural" portion is unnecessary for the purposes of disambiguation. Secondly, whilst it does form part of the school's official name in Japanese, the school does not use it on its English website. The extra bit at the start is unnatural, and should be removed per WP:COMMONNAME. I note the Japanese WikiProject does not have any guidelines specific to the naming of schools within its manual of style. I raised this issue in relation to a different school at the project's talk page a a few months ago but received no response. If this discussion receives a significant amount of input, I hope any decision reach can be applied elsewhere. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:49, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support: Everything you said. The WP titles should be plausible English names, not shadows of the Japanese name. Imaginatorium (talk) 04:17, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support. It's the WP:COMMONNAME. Anarchyte (work | talk) 09:32, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support: As the name "Aomori High School" seems to be used extensively and deliberately on the school's own website, the Wikipedia article name should match this - as per WP:COMMONNAME. --DAJF (talk) 10:21, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support in this case. There are other prefectures (Wakayama, for example) where the longer name would be needed for disambiguation, though, so care should be taken when applying elsewhere. --Cckerberos (talk) 09:59, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
