Turn into two articles?
editThis looks like two articles rolled into one, the business interests of the Oneida and a biography. Also, a quick search picks up the following material by groups critical of casinos as an economic development strategy: http://www.oneidasfordemocracy.org/main/the-oneidas-for-democracy-who-we-are/ http://www.speakupwny.com/article_2996.shtml as well as some court cases, which would take a bit of effort to assess. Accordingly, rating article as a stub for now, adding activepol tag. Djembayz (talk) 00:34, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Yes, this is highly politicised. Oneidas for Democracy is a group of Traditionals. Technically, Ray Halbritter is not Oneida, and certainly not Wolf Clain since the then Wolf Clan Mother, Maisie Shenandoah removed him from her Clan and from her Nation. Maisie was Joanne, Diane, and Danielle's mum. (I hope I am not missing anyone out! If so, forgive me.) This is possible under Traditional Law, and was initially honoured by the U.S. Government.
He owns a LOT of the Native news outlets which results in him directing people to scrub for anything that might show him in a less than positive light. This is definitely one of those things I talked to you about at the Conference where I personally know things but they are very hard to document. On the other hand, there are scholars that came to serve as observers. Bruce E. Johansen wrote extensively about the situation, so there is scholarly work. Almost naught is neutral. This is dated, from outside of the community, but to my knowledge they did their best to investigate. http://www.cpt.org/work/aboriginal_justice/oneida Abesottedphoenix (talk) 10:59, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
Is Arthur Raymond Halbritter Jewish? I wonder because of his activities; taking over news outlets and taking control of a "foreign" group of people. What religion/race were his parents? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.145.12.173 (talk) 13:03, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
This article has a ridiculous name. His name is Ray Halbritter. That's what he is called
editThis article needs to be re-named. The title is simply ridiculous and should be changed. NO ONE calls him Arthur Raymond Halbritter. He is known to the world as "Ray Halbritter" and nothing else. The MOS makes it clear that we name bio articles according the name that the person is known for, not some legalistic name that no one knows the person for. If there is a reasonable rationale for this this ridiculous name then I would like to hear it. Otherwise, I suggest a name change for the whole article.ML (talk) 20:34, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- I have reached out to the editor that created this article--which is badly written--and asked him why he named it "Arthur Raymond Halbritter". That editor has not responded to my questions. If someone can explain the oddball name I would like to understand the reasoning. No one calls Ray Halbritter "Arthur" or "Arthur Raymond" or "Arthur Raymond Halbritter". That is is just a ridiculous name and the name of the article should be changed. Also, the article talks about things that were accomplished by the Oneida tribe and it claims that Ray Halbritter did those things himself personally. That is is hogwash. The articles needs to be cleaned up. But the first thing is to get the name right. The name is way, way, way wrong and that should be fixed first. Unless someone comes along and provides a reasonable, rational explanation for the oddball name then a some point I am going to go through the process of renaming the article.--ML (talk) 18:11, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
