Neos???

edit

I'm no expert in Austrian politics but I'm pretty sure an Italian airline isn't running & polling in the low single digits, polling infobox needs to be corrected.Guyb123321 (talk) 13:46, 27 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's an acronym for Das Neue Österreich, or New Austria. I've fixed the link, although there is no article for the party at present. Number 57 11:10, 28 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Chancellor

edit

Am I correct in thinking that this election will decide the next Chancellor, because the Chancellor is the head of the largest political party in the National Council? If so, I think this information is decidedly important and should be added to the article. --Viennese Waltz 13:52, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

According to the Austrian constitution the President has the sole power to appoint the chancellor and by extension the government. However, since the government can be toppled at any time by a parliamentary vote of no-confidence, the president usually takes account of the situation in the National Council (Lower House). Thus, the leader of the largest political party is not by default appointed chancellor, it is however common practice. Gugganij (talk) 10:04, 14 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Nonsense info box

edit

Can anyone explain what 'seats before' refers to in the info box and how it differs from 'last election'? This info box should be simpler, like the german language version which has share of the vote and number of seats - nothing about previous elections. Nice and simple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asmaybe (talkcontribs) 16:11, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
