Akkording to the AvtoVAZ and Lada Kalina articles, the Kalina number starts with '1', but has a 1.6 litre engine, and Lada Samara starts with '2', but has a 1.5 litre engine. tobixen 13:40, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right. It looks like VAZ denounced the standard it has followed for 30-odd years and started using different numbering system. Kalina apparently is the first model not to follow the old scheme. Papushin 04:34, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Any information on the similar motorcycle numbering system?
- Nothing like that was in existance. DL24 (talk) 14:19, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Passenger cars
editI disagree with information given in the article about first digit of «passenger cars». You will find more detailed information here: http://auto.meta.ua/autolaw/useful_info/auto_class/ It explaines Kalina's first digit. To be short — number correspondes to the class but not only to the capacity of the vehicle. Table given in the article explaines how to determine first digit for a car, where the basic parameter is a curb weight of a car, and the secondary is the capacity. Kalina's weight is 1080 kg and.. oh! The digit has to be «2» anyway.
Why do I think so? Look: a modification of GAZ-2410 («2») having 5.0 liter vehicle was still encluded into «2»-nd category. A usual modification of GAZ-2410 had 2.45 liter engine, which shoul be classified as «3» digit by capacity. And here's told https://autopeople.ru/news/360.html that some low-volumed versions of VAZ-2101 and VAZ-2108 did not change their first digit to «1» (because their curb weight did not change!). One more example — UAZ-469 indexed «4» was produced serially since 1973, under the stipulation that document «ОН 025270-66» became effective in 1966. Cubic capacity of its vehicle is 2450 (according to «ОН 025270-66» index must be «3»), and curb weight is 1650 kg, getting to class «3» too. So I gonna say these norms relative to passenger cars were not executed.
Some people say that LADA changed model classification from Kalina to please EU, and now it depends on a length of a car: http://forum.mostransavto.ru/index.php?showtopic=4443&st=30# --novacio (talk) 02:30, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- GAZ-24-10 was just a modification of GAZ-24, so it's numbered by 1945 system (also, it's not a semi-trailer). UAZ-469 too. Ziu-682 trolly is still produced too, but I'm not sure it's numbered by 1945 system. KonstKaras (talk) 07:09, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Concerning small-engined VAZ-2101 and 2108, VAZ just evaded giving very similar cars different numbers; on other side, ZiL once issued ZiL-3250 bus based on ZiL-5301 truck series; also there are quite likely PAZ-2305 and PAZ-4233 buses - these pairs demonstrate drawbacks of the system. Use of numbering system by Volkswagen Group Rus
editIn the article Volkswagen Group Rus#Other it is implied that the standard Russian numbering system is used for vehicles manufactured in the Kaluga factory, but the description there does not like up with what is written in this article. Can someone explain the situation, please? My Gussie (talk) 21:23, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
