Not the first game use 3D technology.

edit

NVidia released software and glasses a couple months ago that allows a lot of games to be viewed in 3D, including MMOs like World of Warcraft. I changed the sentence to what was summarized in the article linked, which had no mention of being the first 3D game. 71.68.49.116 (talk) 17:58, 17 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

it's a very old technology, but for LCD's it's fairly recent. nobody can really claim to have invented it, neither can nvidia or anyone else. Markthemac (talk) 17:02, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

put it is the first to be playable in stereoscopic 3d on a ps3 or xbox 360. but you have to have all the right pieces, and that's rare. there were stereoscopic games for other consoles though. the Sega master system had shutter glasses. Release Date

edit

Ok i looked on websites and the release date says November 24, 2009 so I am changing the date on the page to where it says 11/24 and I'm saying this so I wont get a message saying that it's vandalism because it's not since it is true (64.72.39.223 (talk) 02:10, 1 October 2009 (UTC))Reply

Gameplay

edit

I read Nintendo Power and Playstation Magazine and they both mention that the gameplay for all the games is different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.192.3.223 (talk) 22:06, 21 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

120Hz Really?

edit

I suspect the 3D requirement in Europe would be 100Hz. I don't think 120Hz (NOT being a multiplier of the mains frequency) is available. Can someone confirm? Martin Packer (talk) 10:38, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's nothing to do with electrical power, it's to do with image refresh rate, 120hz being twice the standard 60hz refresh rate, one for each eye, totally correct, although most of the 3d TVs seem to be much higher, 200hz plus. MattUK (talk) 20:40, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Isn't the standard refresh rate over there 50hz? --TiagoTiago (talk) 08:02, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Not for HD. Ace of Sevens (talk) 08:05, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

is the story canon?

edit

the story seems to be like the movie, except with a different main character. Is this story considerend canon? 24.68.101.168 (talk) 03:16, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

It takes place two years before the movie, but I have not heard whether it is canon. 88.105.17.61 (talk) 15:02, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

iPhone

edit

Perhaps someone can add a section, or a note, about the iPhone version of the game? It's listed in the platforms released area, but other than that, nothing. Even though the iPhone version was made by Gameloft and is completely different from the PC version. LN3000 (talk) 05:57, 3 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Really now?

edit

Is the cheats section necessary? It just seems unencyclopedic, and most other articles don't have a cheats section. Acksis (talk) 15:13, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

More than one flavor

edit

There actually seem to be at least five distinct versions of this game...I'd even call them different games set in the same world.

  • The PC/XBOX360/PS3, as described in the article.
  • The Nintendo DS version, featuring a young visionary, Nok of the Tawkami Clan, on a quest to learn all he can about his world, Eywa and the "Dreamwalkers" (Avatars). He stumbles on a plot by the RDA to take control of Pandora's animals and turn them against the Na'vi. This one (and possibly some of the others) comes with an in-game Pandorapedia.
  • The Nintendo Wii version tells about a native Na'vi who is the last of his tribe, which was wiped out by the RDA. His goal is to avenge his clan by killing the man who ordered the strike on the Na'vi tribe he called family.
  • The mobile-phone game has Jake and Neytiri fighting the RDA and trying to recover an artifact called the Sacred Soul.
  • The game for iPhone/iPad features Ryan Lorenz, the very first Avatar driver to come to Pandora. Neytiri's sister Sylwanin is in a supporting role; Neytiri narrates. The story takes place twenty years before the film.

Should I add mentions of the other versions to this article, or would they need articles of their own? I can do the mentions, but not all-new articles; I've never played any of the games, so would have to defer to someones who have. -- Marius the Wanderer (talk) 03:19, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
