Sources
editHere - http://www.rsva.ru/biblio/prose_af/10_let/8.shtml?part=16 - article from "Red Star" newspaper. It cites some Soviet Army documents which I believe is a source for number of losses in other publications. --Tigga en (talk) 04:22, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Agree. There are new evidences in more recent sources as well (like Trud artciles). I've also found the almost complete list of all 12 here: http://www.afganvro.ru/uroki5.php. The deeper investigation is needed. Fastboy (talk) 19:14, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Notability
editWell! as requested here, the article seems to be on a notable subject from some of the references provided in the article. --SMS Talk 20:10, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Assessment
editAs requested here, I have reviewed and assessed the article. You have made a very good start on this article. Some english translations of the Russian sources would be helpful. In addition a copy edit focusing on grammar needs to be done. dashiellx (talk) 15:27, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Fact checks
I have also independently carried out the above mentioned requested assessment. I second the thoughts by dashiellx, but would like to note that this article carries pretty misleading details. A neutral point of view needs to be maintained throughout the article and some comments like declaring Peshawar the second largest town in Pakistan (which it is not; see this for reference) should be removed. Article needs more references in English. Arun Reginald (talk) 16:18, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your notes. First of all, I agree that the Russian sources are not enough. Official Pakistan ISI documents could help with this task - to clarify what was going on there in terms of numbers, terms and names. The task seems to be rather difficult, since these documents are not in English most probably and may be still classified.... It would be great if someone could give references to English sources. As for translations of Russian sources, they are hard to find as well. The Google's Language Tools can do this task at least for verification purposes. --Fastboy (talk) 19:39, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Get rid of the military tone
The article suffers from too much of a military tone like the precise hours of the day and the kind of heroic hoopla put towards the Soviet resistance. Making it sound a bit more like normal English is recommended. I have tried to alter the few starting paragraphs to make it sound like proper English (non-military that is). Another thing that I saw here was (while editing) that this article is written only from the perspective of Russian captives and not from the perspective of the guards. That takes up my concerns regarding the WP:NPOV clause. Arun Reginald (talk) 15:34, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Personally, I've abandoned my plans to find some non-Russian sources, after googling many hours through all the mentions of Badaber. There is just nothing. I've requested expansion here. --Fastboy (talk) 16:10, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Warning
editTo any prospective editors - there is no point in doing any work on this article because User:Niemti (who I note is blocked for edit warring at present, just reverts everything without discussion (as he/she does in other places), Myrtle G. Myrtlegroggins (talk) 04:18, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

editI have found this source on Pakistani casualties, at least according to Russian sources. Will add them to article. https://www.rbth.com/multimedia/history/2016/11/20/babader-uprising-when-russian-pows-took-on-the-pakistani-army-and-the-cia_648613Sammyeugene (talk) 18:17, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
