Improvements
editThis article has a lot of information in it, however, I feel that as it currently stands it is not very user friendly. I feel that the following improvements could be made:
- add more information to the infobox;
- add a regimental badge image;
- add some images to break up the text;
- break up the very long origins section into subsections (level three headings, perhaps);
- expand the section on the modern incarnation of the regiment (this should be the focus in my opinion);
- did the regiment inherit the battle honours of the ancestral units? Has it earned any battle honours post 1947? If so, can a separate battle honours section be created? As it stands it is not exactly clear what battle honours the regiment has;
- references — for a successful B class review, the article requires at least one in line citation per paragraph (more if multiple contestable points are made).
These are just a few ideas. I feel that the article could be improved if given the attention of a good copy editor and an expert (or someone with some sources).
I hope this helps. Cheers. — AustralianRupert (talk) 09:35, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Redo article
editAt present the only part of this article that is about the Baloch Regiment is the Modern Regiment section near the end. If there are no objections I will re do the article there are already articles for the British Indian formations pre independence the 8th Punjab Regiment and the 10th Baluch Regiment so most of the history pre Second World War can be done away with. --Jim Sweeney (talk) 13:00, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, Jim. Yes, this seems to make sense. I have no objections. — AustralianRupert (talk) 13:09, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- I have created sub-headings and removed some duplicated material (some lazily without logging in) but there still is a mass of valid and interesting information provided by Pakistani Wikipedia editors which I hope could be retained in any reorganised set of articles. Part of the problem is that almost every regiment in the old British Indian Army which has survived through until modern times, underwent so many changes that its history becomes a hard-to-follow tangle of titles, traditions and restructurings.
