The title "Lady"

Is Lady Barbara Thomas Judge the wife of The Rt Hon Sir Igor Judge, Lord Justice Judge, President of the Queen's Bench Division? If she is, she is presumably not "Lady Barbara" but "Lady Judge". On the other hand perhaps she is the daughter of a duke, a marquess, or an earl. I have seen her referred to as "The Hon Barbara Thomas Judge", which might suggest that her father was a courtesy viscount or baron who has now succeeded to a dukedom, marquessate, or earldom. However, I do not know of any peers of those ranks with the surname Thomas (which I take to be her maiden name). I am guessing that the style, "The Hon" pertains to her former post in the US.--195.92.67.75 19:05, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I believe she is actually the wife of Sir Paul Judge. Still she is Lady Judge or The Hon Barbara Thomas. Probably best rendered as The Hon. Barbara Thomas (Lady Judge)--Westminsterboy 15:24, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

How did she get the style "The Hon."? A wife of a knight is only known as Lady... without "The Hon."

As a former member of the SEC (a post confirmed by the US Senate, one of the five heads of the independent agency) she gets the style "the Hon." for life; as wife of a Knight, she gets "Lady".Enon (talk) 23:00, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Surname

I realise the current rewrite is still in progress, but just to point out that at the moment the article implies that Thomas (her married name from her first marriage) was her surname when she graduated in 1966 although I don't think we know this to be the case, I've not seen a source that gives dates for her marriages. Yes, thank you, and thank you also for your earlier changes. I have also been looking for a source on this point but so far haven't seen any. It appears I will have to undo my earlier change – if we can't date her marriages sufficiently, we will have to refer to her everywhere under her current name for consistency, odd as it is. I also couldn't find a year for her last marriage, but it appears that there was nothing otherwise noteworthy in her biography until she got the UKAEA position, so that alone would not have been a problem. These links should help with dating the marriages. Good job with neutralising the article so far and getting a balance - I much prefer digging for dates.

Name listed in the London Gazette

The name that was listed in the official London Gazette on 12 June 2010 when she received her CBE is: Barbara, Lady Judge (see a pdf file of that here under the letter J). There is no mention of the surname Thomas in relation to her in this London Gazette. -- Blairall (talk) 03:31, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
