Spintendo, Why is this a controversial move? · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 12:42, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Unexceptionable move

edit

This is proceduralism for its own sake. It is easy to Google to verify that the item is correct. There is no conflict of interest or paid editing issue when the editor is reporting a fact. Acad Ronin (talk) 12:37, 25 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Quite so. It is a bank, the name has been changed, it has been reported in several newspapers and news websites. There is no obvious reason why this should be controversial. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 12:32, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

If editing Wikipedia is part of your job, in that you get paid for your edits, please ensure you disclose it on your userpage in accordance with our paid editing guideline. On Wikipedia, even if a company's official name changes, we still use the most common name which is used by reliable sources to refer to the company. While you have provided a few press releases documenting the name change, you have not provided evidence that sources which are independent of the company and are considered reliable routinely refer to the company by its new name. My advice would be to find existing independent, reliable coverage of the company under its new name and cite it in the article, and then come back and make the proposal again. Should such coverage not yet exist, I'm afraid it will be a case of waiting until it does. (closed by non-admin page mover) SITH (talk) 11:58, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
