Ugly/beautiful

That's a hideous barrette of a bad colour that doesn't even match the person's hair. Is there a better picture of nicer barrette? --WongFeiHung 22:09, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Not only is the example photo hideous, but I would argue it isn't even really a barrette--I think barrettes are typically clips that are hinged on one side and openable on the other, while the thing in the photo is some sort of woven affair with a stick shoved through both ends. -- Tina 7:38, 16 June 2007

British english

I've only heard "hair clip" in use in Britain, not "hair slide" - but then, I'm the wrong gender to really notice... :-/ Mike Peel (talk) 22:15, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

• I've heard both hair slide and hair clip in the UK. In Australia, a hair clip is very different to a bobby pin, which would only refer to a hairpin or as the Brits call them, Kirby grips.Segat1 (talk) 04:51, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
