Wording
editThe sentence "British banks alone may have to set aside another £50Bn of reserves to meet Basel 4 requirements." might be quoted correctly, but it does not make sense. The capital may need to be increased by £50Bn, but it is not "set aside" as its use is in now ways limited compared to other liabilities. The additional capital (or equity) does not need to be held in cash or so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.99.77.121 (talk) 13:10, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- I've revised this to more accurately describe what the figure refers to. 109.152.228.232 (talk) 21:05, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
Rename
editI propose to rename this to Basel IV, in line with most of the cited sources, and the previous naming pattern (eg Basel III). Any objections? AndrewRT(Talk) 17:29, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- I disagree. The Basel Committe that issued these standards calls it a finalisation of Basel III (see references to BCBS in the article). Regardless of a practice followed by some consultancies, I suggest to stick with the author's naming. Danieliuslt (talk) 16:37, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- To clarify, my proposal (in 2017) was to rename it from Basel 4 to Basel IV (which I did) rather than debate whether it should actually be called Basel 3.1, Basel IV or Finalising Basel 3. 86.185.161.102 (talk) 19:42, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
Rename (2)
editAs per above discussion, should this be renamed Basel 3.1? 109.152.228.232 (talk) 21:05, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
