Plot
editThere is nothing wrong with the more detailed plot. If you see a spelling or grammar correction, please make it, but the nearly useless plot that existed before is not enough. Please don't revert it again. Mathewignash (talk) 13:17, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- After a tonne of work it's now at an acceptable level. Next time you try something like this, I urge you to recognise your own limitations. You can't write and you can't spell. You are not the right person to generate a sustained piece of writing. You wasted a month of your life writing a plot summary for Battle Beyond the Stars, and you're in no position to dictate terms to anybody. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 14:01, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Shad's ship
editWhat on earth is that supposed to be? It looks .... well..... rude 86.182.222.246 (talk) 03:22, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- Sometimes an alien space ship is just an alien spaceship. If you think it's "rude," perhaps your mind is dwelling on "rude" things. 108.52.66.178 (talk) 17:44, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- It was intentionally designed to look like breasts. Interesting thing is, the model was re-used in another B movie (more like a D movie) several years later; I don't recall the name of it, but saw it on Cinemax in the early '80s. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 10:48, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
It may have been Starlog magazine that reported it was based on adult film star Candy Samples body. 2600:8807:5400:28F0:D56:83F3:7C70:DBAC (talk) 16:28, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
Critical opinion
editI remember seeing this movie on original release at the local multiplex. I saw it as a parody of "Seven Samurai" and "The Magnificent Seven" in the tradition of space operas like the Flash Gordon serials and Toho's "Mysterians" and "Battle in Outer Space". Most of the lamb blasting by professional critics is based on seeing it as a ripoff of "Star Wars" as though they were unaware of the plot line and the existence of space opera before "Star Wars". Cult movie fans like this movie. Are there reliable sources on the phenomenon of cluelessness of stuffy critics (besides my sister) that could be added to the reaction section? -Naaman Brown (talk) 08:44, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Naaman Brown: — What is "lamb blasting"? — Quicksilver (Hydrargyrum)T @ 23:44, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
- I think lambasting is the intended word; participle of lambaste, "to criticize harshly". — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 10:50, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- Here, actually, it would be a gerund. It functions as a noun, whereas participles function as adjectives when not part of verbs. Antinoos69 (talk) 06:34, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

- Furthermore, the main music overture by James Horner has had a steady following among music lovers. It has been played for decades by various college marching bands.--2600:6C48:7006:200:B056:6066:1296:EF0B (talk) 00:46, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Should Forth b mentioned?
editSome special effects in this 🎥,rather uniquely, were an early use of the forth programming language. Should such b mentioned...possibly in the production section of article?Slarty4 (talk) 03:15, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
