I have done a little copy editing which you will want to check.
- "CSA" in the infobox should be in full at first mention. And consistent with Combatant 1.
- Fixed
- Could we have a paragraph break in the lead?
- Fixed
- "General Edmund Kirby Smith, Confederate commander of the Trans-Mississippi Department was ordered to send troops from his department to other theaters of war east of the Mississippi River after the conclusion of the Red River campaign in the spring of 1864, but Smith deemed this impossible due to Union control of the Mississippi River." This sentence is perhaps a little on the long side.
- Split
- "Instead, Smith approved an expedition into Union-held Missouri." This seems to beg the question as to why?
- Explained
- "so he sent two of his three divisions, under Brigadier General John S. Marmaduke and Major General James H. Fagan" This is incomplete. Sent them where, to do what?
- Oops, added where
- "the Union defenders repulsed multiple of Price's assaults" This may work in USEnglish, but it doesn't in other varieties. Possibly "multiple of" → 'several' or 'a number of' or similar?
- Dropped the phrase "of Price's assault", I think the sentence still makes sense without that
- "and Brigadier General brigade of Shelby's division. M. Jeff Thompson to Sedalia" A little confusion?
- Looks like a botched copy and paste of the footnote about Thompson's rank.
- 'Optional: this is a little low on images. Perhaps a photo of an example of one of the guns which caused the rout?
- Without McGhee in front of me, I'm not sure what type of cannons Collins had. I've added an 1865 sketch of an action in Price's Raid.
- Rose M. Nolen Black History Library: What makes this a reliable source? Otherwise the sources appear to be high quality.
- Removed, since I can't find that information anywhere else.

- @Gog the Mild: - I've responded to all above. I almost didn't nominate this for GA - I wrote this in two hours and it barely scrapes by GNG. Hog Farm Bacon 14:20, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
It seems OK for GAN to me. I was planning on leaving you a note saying that it would need work before a possible ACR. Promoting. Gog the Mild (talk) 14:29, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- It looks like there's significant coverage in Monnett's Action Before Westport 1864, which I have at home. I'll add that in some weekend, and that'll help in the article. Hog Farm Bacon 14:30, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

- Date and length OK. AGF on source as I can't access it as my antivirus says the PDF host is a dangerous website. I am going to approve the original because I think it is more hooky and less politically charged for current events than the ALT. QPQ done, no close paraphrasing. Good to go @Hog Farm:.
