Shigino

edit

Not "Shigeno",But "Shigino"(鴫野(しぎの) at peresent Shigino Joto-ku Oasaka City(大阪市城東区鴫野))? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.97.51.201 (talkcontribs) 00:46, 4 September 2007

I believe you that there is a place currently called Shigino, but all my books say Shigeno. Is this the same place? Has the name changed, perhaps? Can anyone else back up one side or the other? LordAmeth 09:09, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Shigino(鴫野,しぎの) is here 34°41′34″N 135°32′42″E / 34.69278°N 135.54500°E / 34.69278; 135.54500 and Imafuku(今福,いまふく) is here 34°42′07″N 135°33′36″E / 34.70194°N 135.56000°E / 34.70194; 135.56000. There is Neya river(寝屋川,ねやがわ) between Shigino and Imafuku.(Neya river was Yamato river(大和川,やまとがわ) in 1614. In 1704 the route of Yamato river was changed to south.) Kizu river(木津川,きずがわ) flows from here 34°41′6″N 135°28′59″E / 34.68500°N 135.48306°E / 34.68500; 135.48306 to here 34°37′35″N 135°26′54″E / 34.62639°N 135.44833°E / 34.62639; 135.44833221.170.245.72 17:48, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Japanese article (which is referenced, for once) calls it the Battle of Shigino, the Googlemap calls the area "Shigino", and kanji dictionaries I've looked at list the first kanji as "shigi-", with no mention anywhere of "shige-". Seems evidence favors the Shigi-spelling. Since I don't foresee dissent in face of such strong evidence, especially over a neglected stub-article on a footnote event in history, I will go ahead and move the article to the new title, Battle of Shigino. If somebody has stunning evidence to the contrary, please revert and open a new dialogue for discussion. Boneyard90 (talk) 10:06, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've also changed the name of the river, IAW the Japanese article again, from the Kizu River to the Yamato/Neya river (Yamato can also be seen in the battle map).Boneyard90 (talk) 10:10, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
