There is currently no fighting in Svatove itself, therefore I don't see why a page is necessary at the moment. It should be kept in drafts until fighting occurs within city limits. Right now, the article violates WP:NOTACRYSTALBALL. Jebiguess (talk) 19:31, 12 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
On the naming issue: we need to delete the pages for Battle of Svatove', Draft: Battle of Svatove', and the current Svatovo and delete any draft redirects. Jebiguess (talk) 19:36, 12 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well, I do not agree with your assumption---A close analogy is you can read any World War II battles and find out that not every battle fought exactly in the target city itself, and a case in point is the Battle of Moscow in 1941, and the battle never occurred in Moscow itself, but it didn't mean when German troops attacked Vyazma and Bryansk as well as Tula and Kalinin and outskirts of Moscow, then Soviet Union won't feel the threat against Moscow at all, and for this purpose it rallied the troops from Siberia and elsewhere to deter and counter German offensives to make sure German troops cannot be too close to Moscow.
Plus, though Ukraine is yet to capture Svatove, but it does have the intent to recapture and it's clearer and clearer nowadays Ukrainian forces advance in at least 2 directions---one is from Kupiansk and advancing from northwest, and another is from Borova and northern Donetsk and attacking from west. Another possible direction is from south but is more likely to press upon P-66 Highway to exert pressure on both Svatove AND Kreminna to assist in the main effort in attacking Svatove. Yes it should be changed to a draft but made better; casualties without sources, more than half of the sources are ISW (which is reliable but we're just restating them as it is), etc Dawsongfg (talk) 00:29, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Agree with Bf0325. Battles are typically named after nearby features. Combat does not have to occur in the feature itself for history to remember the battle as "Battle of feature". This is particularly true if the feature is a tiny village; the battle would typically be named after a nearby city. Jaredroach (talk) 17:54, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
