CCHT external link
editThis link was added to the article after discussion on the WP Reliable Sources Noticeboard. See: WP:RSN exercise. No information from the CCHT link has been put into the body of the article in the form of citations because it has not yet been verified for 100% accuracy by the Victoria County History project for Cumbria. Old sources
editSome content has been copied from external sources that were written over a century ago. Is the information still up to date? For example, the first paragraph in the History of the parish section describes the borders of the Beaumont parish, which is from a source dated 1901. Are the borders the same today? In the second paragraph of the same section, describing the manor, states the manor belongs to the Earl of Lonsdale. Is the manor still owned by the Earl? How is this even relevant to Beaumont? And I have no idea what the currencies are when the source is quoting donations, benefactions and the like. -- Discboy 21:05, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- I've cleaned-up the page -- I don't pretend to be an expert on Beaumont, but I think you're right to suspect this out-of-date information. The whole manorial system in England collapsed not long after 1901, so I can't imagine for a moment that the village in any meaningful sense belongs to the "Earl of Lonsdale." The benefactions, too, might have been of interest in 1900, but as far as I know, most of them these days are only of antiquarian interest. Pasicles (talk) 18:10, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
