Great Victoria Street???

edit

Nowadays, this station is just called Great Victoria Street, leaving out the Belfast. Anybody have any objections if the Belfast is removed from the title? Jimmy1109 (talk) 00:12, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with this - but unfortunately it looks like the article was moved back to Belfast Great Victoria Street in 2010... now needs administrator privileges to move it to a better name. There are no other "Great Victoria Street" stations on Wikipedia, so why is there a need for Belfast to be in the name at all? Will request an administrator move. Belfast Great Victoria Street StationGreat Victoria Street railway station – The Great Victoria Street station does not include "Belfast" in the name. There are no other "Great Victoria Street" stations on Wikipedia, so no need for disambiguation to Belfast. In addition, the capitalisation of "Station" is currently incorrect. Reasoning for "railway station" as opposed to "station" is that the majority of other Northern Ireland station articles use "railway station" (see Category:Railway stations served by NI Railways). Botanic railway station, City Hospital railway station and Titanic Quarter railway station don't have the "Belfast" prefix - my opinion is that where the locations are specific, i.e. "Such and Such Street station" then that name would suffice (unless a suffix is required for clarity, as per Peterkingiron's suggestion), but where the name is "Central station" then it needs a descriptor to show that it's the central station "of Belfast". Those stations look more like suburban ones rather than the city's main ones - similar to the many stations in Dublin not called "Dublin" and the pattern in other big cities for the city name to normally only be used in relation to the big central stations.
