Rival
edit- Anybody knows anything about LAUSD history knows that Belmont and Marshall are one of the biggest rivalry, dating back to when Belmont opened its doors in 1923. Ucla90024 (talk) 19:55, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Great- it shouldn't be hard to find a reliable source that mentions this fact. tedder (talk) 19:57, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- On top of it, you can go to the Marshall page and see that Belmont is listed as its rival. There are tons of information not sourced, including the notable alumni for John Marshall High School. If everything is sourced, ... Ucla90024 (talk) 20:00, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
What happened in 2009
editI'm a long-ago Belmont grad, and happened to be looking atm the article lately out of general curiosity. This grew out of interest in some other articles on U.S. schools which had led me to http://schoolfinder.com. I see from the schoolfinder page on Belmont that there was apparently a dramatic drop in enrollment in 2009. I see only implicit info on that in the article, and stopped by here to suggest here that perhaps that should be covered more explicitly than it currently is. - LAUSD opened a bunch of schools that absorbed enrollment from Belmont. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:13, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Belmont Hotel
editThe article states, "Eventually, the hotel was abandoned, and later it was transformed into the private Belmont School for Girls." I believe the school for girls and the Belmont Hotel coexisted. The hotel burned down as a hotel ( http://www.lafire.com/famous_fires/1887-1216_BelmontHotelFire/12161887_BelmontHotelFire.htm ) and the school survived for a time.
