Original Research
editAlthough the sales figures for each act may be referenced it seems that the list as a whole is original research. Where are we getting the list of bands to include on the list? How do we know that no act has been missed out? How do we decide how many acts to include on the list? If somebody else has published research on this subject, and we can reference it to that source, then this will resolve the problem. --DanielRigal (talk) 17:37, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
All of the acts have been taken from the wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists and the mentioned artists discography page. Seek references on those pages --MichaelH3948 (talk) 16:30, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ah. I see now. I think there are problems with the article you are working from but so long as the data here is only a subset of that I guess I need to take my concerns (above) over there.
- I do have one other concern though. If you are making an article which is a subset of another article then it doesn't really add new information and there is a risk that it could diverge as entries in one article get updated and not the other. Perhaps it would be better to make the main article filterable or sortable by nationality of artist than to make separate articles for each nationality. What do you think? --DanielRigal (talk) 19:24, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Why is Cliff Richard missed of the world best selling list.
editIm happy to see that you have included Cliff Richard on your best seling list. But why is Cliff missed of the World best selling list. Its very well documented that Cliff has sold over 260 million records but the creator of the world list refuses to recognise this. I have wrote to the list many times asking them to correct this but they refuse to, insisting that Cliff has sold no where near the 260 million. There list starts at 50 million and Cliff still does not appear at the bottom of the list. I would be greatful for any help and suggestions on how to get Cliff on the world list where he belongs.90.200.213.212 (talk) 10:54, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Arbitrariness of Wikipedia
editIf Pet Shop Boys and Eurythmics, regardless of their nationality, sold 100 million and 75 million respectively, then why are they not placed in Wikipedia's all time best selling artists? This 'neutrality' principle of Wikipedia is ever a way to camouflage bias. There is always a quorum of people that have more buttons to push than others
ABBA?
editAny reason why ABBA are on this list of British acts?87.82.48.94 (talk) 11:59, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
