More info

Thanks for entering this article. There are a few errors, which I have corrected. It would have been nice if you had not simply cut and pasted the text from the Clear Lake article.—Preceding unsigned comment added by EricBarbour (talkcontribs) 19:26, April 4, 2007

More sources

edit

Most of the sources seem to be from Lake Co. press releases of an advocacy group or a historical marker raised by the state on their behalf. The only third party gives a different name for the lieutenant involved (Stoneman). Probably a good idea to look for more reliable sources than those currently used. The Legacy section could probably also use expansion on the Lucy Moore Foundation itself, as it apparently has rather large plans for annual tributes, purchasing the site, and erecting a museum. -LlywelynII (talk) 12:40, 1 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Concur entirely. This is a poorly written, poorly researched and poorly documented article, completely unreliable and historically dubious. Written obviously to 'spin' a controversial agenda. BBeagle (talk) 22:32, 16 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Merger with California Genocide

edit

I believe that this massacre (particularly coupled with the subsequent attacks up the Russian River) is one of the largest in US history, and merits its own article.

A paragraph or section in California Genocide linking here would be appropriate. Alanf777 (talk) 18:43, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Arguably this was the largest single massacre of American Indians in what is now the U. S. I'm reading a book now with an entire chapter on it, and will try to add (and possibly correct) information in the next few weeks. MetaClaudia (talk) 01:10, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Title Case

edit

I have received a very hostile warning from Bahooka regarding changing the title from Bloody Island massacre to Bloody Island Massacre. What is the justification for this? I changed the title in order to make it consistent with the page, as well as usage. Rather than going nuclear, please discuss this and explain the reasoning – or rule used.

It wasn't meant to be a hostile warning. It is the boilerplate warning used when someone moves articles to a name not in compliance with Wikipedia's Manual of Style. You were making a lot of rapid-fire changes to article names without understanding that the changes were incorrect. I see that you are a new user, so I recommend you review the Manual of Style, in particular WP:LOWERCASE where it states the policy is to have article titles in sentence case.
