Although the lake has a capacity as stated it might be worth clarifying that the lake surface is only the exposure of a very extensive aquifer and so although cosiderable water is drawn from it it does not decrease as much as would be expected, further to this, the major environmental issue might be the lowering of the water table throughout the district.
