The FLats
editThe Flats are not part of the Heights! Just as Boyle Heights is not part of East Los Angeles or City Terrace. Propse moving the Flats elsewhere. Saltysailor (talk) 21:21, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's hard to evaluate your proposal because the text on the "Flats" doesn't clearly identify where it is. City neighborhoods don't realy have official boundaries, but some neighborhoods include sub-neighborhoods. For example, the Garvanza neighborhood is part of Highland Park. Are you sure that the Flats aren't part of Boyle Heights? What better-known neighborhood are they a part of - City Terrace? ·:· Will Beback ·:· 23:09, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- The Heights are just that, physically defined by their height above the LA River. The Flats are between the Heights and the River. The Heights were once fairly upscale. The Flats were not only physically different, but have always been demographically different. Part of the Flats, Aliso Village, had its own official neighborhood sign.Saltysailor (talk) 09:23, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- So that'd be west of the bluffs. What do people call the Flats formally - the Boyle Flats? I've never heard of it. I've heard of Aliso Village, but that's a special case because of its history. The de facto boundaries for many L.A. neighborhoods are zip codes. Do you know if the Flats have a separate code of their own? We have an article on Aliso Village, but that's as a demolished development rather than a current neighborhood. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 19:13, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Deleted history section found on the "view history" record, due to lacking sources, but I happen to believe some, if not all of the edits awaited verification. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Boyle_Heights,_Los_Angeles&diff=prev&oldid=491847508#History Whoever (members or anons) placed the information could done it better, or their edits end up deleted. 71.102.9.156 (talk) 19:25, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Brooklyn Heights Picture
editThe 1877 lithograph is of Brooklyn Heights (note the inclusion of Prospect Park). There at least needs to be some annotation that the plans in the image were for Brooklyn Heights, which is now commonly associated with Boyle Heights, if the lithograph isn't removed altogether. "Diversity"
edit"Hector Tobar of the Los Angeles Times said "The diversity that exists in Boyle Heights today is exclusively Latino".
Is this a joke? The area isn't diverse at all. It's homogenous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.207.250.71 (talk) 11:44, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- He was referring to the fact that Central Americans and South Americans are living side by side with Chicanos and people from Mexico. You can read his article at http://articles.latimes.com/2011/dec/09/local/la-me-tobar-20111209/2. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 03:45, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

"The combination of Jewish people and Latinos in Boyle Heights symbolized a tight unity between the two communities."
editMaybe. But that sounds pre-rehearsed, like something a public relations firm would come up with. If it's true, great, but I'd like to see some sources for such a rosy view of intergroup relations — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.95.174.225 (talk) 20:37, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
