I think the page should not be deleted for the following reasons:

i.The commonwealth Realm of Mauritius is distinct from the Present-day Republic of Mauritius ii.It was a commonwealth realm for a long time (24 years) iii.this is a notable enough period of time-with enough things happening in it-to warrant a separate article in its own rght.

• I can find very little evidence that the island was ever formally called "The Dominion of Mauritius". Most of what is in the article is a duplicate of other articles on Mauritius. And the very comprehensive history article is the correct place to add new material. This article is a "content fork" which is generally discouraged in wikipedia.

in other words, there were already wikipedia articles for the dominions of ceylon, india, pakistan, and they were only commonwealth realms for three, nine, and twenty-four years respectively. The central african empire only existed for three. It has its own article. If they warrant their own article, so does the commonwealth realm of Mauritius. You're quite right that it was not called (officially) 'Dominion of Mauritius'; that was a mistake on my part, it was called officially simply 'Mauritius', with no descriptive adjective. If you look on www.archontology.org under 'Mauritius' you will gather exactly what I mean. But this is not simply a footnote to Mauritian colonial history; this was an independent state with its own distinct institutions, so it deserves its own article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk • contribs) 19:30, 24 March 2011 (UTC) -Essentially, my intention was to create an article for each of the former commonwealth realms. This article is concerned not so much with the history of Mauritius, but the institution/polity of Mauritius as a monarchy, a historical, archontological, and political reality, albeit a former, abolished one.

Rename

Under dutch rule Mauritius was simply known 'Mauritius', with no descriptive adjective, the article for this period is Dutch Mauritius, under French rule Mauritius was known as Isle de France and under British rule its name reverted to 'Mauritius'. i would suggest to rename this article to 'British Mauritius', 'Dominion of Mauritius' seems bizarre as Mauritius was never known with such name. In 1968 the country became independent as a Commonwealth realm (Mauritius (Commonwealth realm)) and became a Republic within the Commonwealth on 12 March 1992.Kingroyos (talk) 06:39, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
