Which paper did Mark Twain work for, and David Gray edit?
editI changed the editor list to reflect that Samuel Langhorne Clemens, who was an actual person, and not Mark Twain, a pen name, was an editor of the paper.--24.211.187.175 (talk) 05:15, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- I wish you had cited a WP:reliable source. Mark Twain's page says he worked for (and had an ownership stake in) the Express, not the Courier. (That is not cited, either.) Why does this photo bear a description on Commons (and also listed here under editors) stating that Gray edited the Courier? Why would Clemens/Twain pose with a competing editor? editThere is info includable in the accompanying article at http://books.google.com/books?id=OUsIJluiyH4C&pg=PA216&lpg=PA216&dq=%22daily+national+pilot%22+buffalo+-podunk&source=web&ots=u1ymnLxlja&sig=0q9vR5_w4Y609Z-zpEu75aJW2VY#PPA218,M1
Note that two of the ancestors were the (Buffalo) National Pilot and its successor, the Courier and Pilot; BFP is probably most notable for the series of 8 letters about Podunk, apparently prominently cited in "The Rationale of Podunk" by Read in American Speech, 1939.
