from airport to station?

edit

How does one get from the airport terminal to the train station? From Google Maps, it looks like it's too far to walk (and not very pedestrian friendly). --Jfruh (talk) 03:13, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The walk seems far because it's totally outdoors. But comparitively it's much shorter than, say, from the Heathrow Central Underground station to the terminals.--Marriedtofilm 05:22, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Signage at the station indicates it's only 0.5 km to the airport (curious, but refreshing to see some metric signage, I might add). That's certainly walkable for those without mobility impairments, weather permitting. That said, there is also some signage notifying passengers that shuttles do dropoffs and pickups at the station regularly. --Alika 23:27, 24 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alikaalex (talkcontribs)

Burbank–Bob Hope Airport stationBurbank Airport–South station – Metrolink is now referring to this station as "Burbank Airport–South", while Amtrak is calling it "Hollywood Burbank Airport" in the Pacific Surfliner Timetable. In any case, "Burbank–Bob Hope Airport" is no longer a good name with the airport dropping Bob Hope from its official title. For the sake of clarity, I think Burbank Airport–South is the better name, but I wanted to hear what other editors think. RickyCourtney (talk) 00:51, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

"Srongly Support" This is Amtrak's only stop so they use full name of airport. Metrolink has three Burbank stops and riders in the Lancaster line have been previously getting off at the Downtown station for the airport. The news media appear to be using the North - South to differentiate and Bob Hope is disappearing. I was going to make the name change without asking since I think it is non-controversial even though I couldn't find a source that explains the name change. Support I can't figure out why the "Bob Hope" part is going away, but this move seems logical. –Daybeers (talk) 05:49, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
The airport was renamed "Bob Hope" in 2003. They changed the name to Hollywood Burbank Airport in 2016 when they realized that people in the eastern USA had no idea where the airport was and so would not choose it when flying to the Greater LA area.Fettlemap (talk) 00:32, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Support. Makes sense. Mackensen (talk) 12:45, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. We are not solely bound by official names. At this point, the majority of reliable, independent sources use the Bob Hope name. If and when that changes, a new request can be made. Can you give examples of those sources? When searching Google News for articles, none use the Bob Hope name. This move makes sense per WP:NAMECHANGES. –Daybeers (talk) 23:12, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
The airport is no longer named the Bob Hope Airport, having offically changed its name to Hollywood Burbank Airport in 2016. In light of that, how would you justify keeping the name of this station "Burbank–Bob Hope Airport"? --RickyCourtney (talk) 03:39, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Since the new station opened north of the airport, local media has been consistently called the other station south when it is mentioned but not Bob Hope: CBS and NBC. The Metrolink Ventura County Line schedule is now using the term south also. Fettlemap (talk) 04:54, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The name of the long planned north station was Bob Hope Airport-Hollywood Way. This would have differentiated it from this station but in the meantime, the airport changed its name. At some point before the station was finished, they changed the name to include north. For consistency, this became south without a lot of fanfare. It will be remodeled soon with a bridge over the tracks and road that ties into the elevated walkway at the airport. It should get a new sign then if it hasn't been updated yet.Fettlemap (talk) 04:56, 17 May 2018 (UTC) Fettlemap (talk) 04:56, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Coast Starlight Service

edit

I looked it up on google maps, called customer service, and looked up the time table. The Seattle-bound Coast Starlight doesn't serve Burbank Airport-South station. I tried to edit it, but I coudln't for some weird reason. Endrias Kassa (talk) 21:18, 14 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
