Art?
editWhat does crystal gazing have to do with art?
- Magic is an art. "Art" does not necessarily mean drawing, painting, and sculpture. I can think of no other general category in which to put crystal gazing. "Magic" could be a misleading header and is not general enough anyway. —Centrx→talk • 02:44, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- See also Oxford English Dictionary, s.v. "art", under "magic art". —Centrx→talk • 23:53, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Primary usage
editLike I said in this edit, there are at least two primary topics. The spelling is the same as the dab name regardless of capitalization. Besides, it's not unheard of. Take a gander at:
- Qi (disambiguation)
- Avatar (disambiguation)
- HP (disambiguation)
- Satan (disambiguation)
- Seta (disambiguation)
- Acid (disambiguation)
- Dante (disambiguation)
- Kudos (disambiguation)
- Krypton (disambiguation)
- Cloud (disambiguation)
- FAD (disambiguation)
Though Freak (disambiguation) and Heart (disambiguation) are somewhat "special cases", I think they too serve as precedents. Any thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:29, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, I am convinced - the purpose of having the primary meaning at the top is that that is how people get to a disambiguation page like this. I do not see where this is discussed at either WP:DISAMBIG or WP:MOSDAB, but it does make sense in terms of aiding navigation. The term primary topic, though, is misleading in this context - crystals are a bit more common than CRYSTALs. - Eldereft (cont.) 06:30, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- You're welcome. However, if this is something you still disagree with it might be best to leave a note at WT:WPDIS. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 07:22, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, I forgot about Jackal (disambiguation). Though I wonder if that second primary topic is even legit ... Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 18:13, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have also made some modifications to Lion (disambiguation) regarding this matter. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 01:22, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
There was no link to this dab page from the primary usage of the capitalised version, at CRYSTAL. Given that some people seem to use caps too much of the time, I think it's needed so have added a hatnote. PamD (talk) 18:02, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Seems to follow from the above logic - good work. - Eldereft (cont.) 00:19, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Argument against multiple primary topics: Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)/Archive 50#Disambiguations. I don't feel strongly about it one way or the other. -- JHunterJ (talk) 15:22, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ive reverted and moved this specific meaning to the main body. I can only see dual primary topics if they are of approximately equal importance. the program obviously derives its name from the geologic term, and is of much less notability. same goes for most of the other dual primary topic disambigs listed above.(mercurywoodrose not logged in)66.80.6.163 (talk) 21:14, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Crystal Wall of Crying (2021)

- Because this is a WP:DAB page, with the specific purpose of distinguishing various uses of the word "crystal". The title of the work you mention would only appear on this page if there is cited evidence that it is referred to by the single word "Crystal". Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:12, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
