Cleanup and verification of contents needed
editJust annotating for when the time can be found to improve: this list needs a thoroughgoing review and matching up with notable and reliable sources. Too many entries here have, I presume, been been plucked from tertiary sources like godchecker.com which IMO is not a very reliable source. A few others are but localised variants of the same entity, while yet others are titles and not specific entities. It would almost be better to scrap this list and start over again, this time from sources with more credibility.--cjllw ʘ TALK 03:28, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
I dispute the idea of scraping the list. It is almost always better to edit and revise than scrap. Also I dispute the non-validity of godchecker.com which has far more quality control than Wikipedia itself. If you wish to take the time to check over the contents and cite or challenge Item by Item please do so. Jessica Leporidae (talk) 07:23, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Fate
editWhich one is the goddess of fate? Vitual aelita (talk) 21:36, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Which one did you have in mind? There is not AFAIK a single Maya deity with an exclusive association with the concept of fate or pre-destination. In glyphic form cuch ("burden, divine fate") appears in the Dresden Codex for eg associated with Ixchel; but that's not her primary purpose. Also note, the present list is rather unsound, and needs a considerable overhaul. --cjllw ʘ TALK 23:55, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I meant the one in the Final destination comics, I'm doing some research and I am trying to find out! Thanks!!!!! Vitual aelita (talk) 18:55, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- I see, no worries. Personally, I wouldn't hold out much hope that the comic's authors were all that concerned to ensure their fictional character was a faithful rendering of whatever original mythological one they based it on, if they did base it on something... ;-) --cjllw ʘ TALK 09:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Lol! Thanks! Vitual aelita (talk) 16:19, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
reducing the number
editAs a first step towards reducing this senseless list, one might indicate the sources: PV for Popol Vuh, and L for Landa. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.162.130.139 (talk) 21:02, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
"Contents"
editWho can remove this useless contraption??77.162.130.139 (talk) 12:43, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Added in a {{compactTOC8}} template, that tidies it up a bit. Thanks for your work on this and other related articles, 77.162.130.139, they'd been much neglected. Cheers, --cjllw ʘ TALK 13:04, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Along these same lines, Maya Gods were introduced in timelines. If this information exists, it would help put the list into a more sortable historical perspective. Thanks Refriedgringo (talk) 06:47, 11 June 2009 (UTC) refriedgringo
Pronunciation?
editThe article could be improve if pronunciation of the Maya gods and supernatural beings were being use. I hope someone who is familar enough with them to add it. Best of luck.
Also adding pictures next to the god/being would be a nice touch.
Name revert
editI reverted an undiscussed and unexplained unilateral move of this page from title "List of Maya gods and supernatural beings" to "List of Mayan mythological figures". If there are specific reasons why this name would be more accurate I suggest discussion here before moving. (For myself, I think the adjective "Maya" is indeed more appropriate, and matches similar usage on Wikipedia eg Maya religion .)Infrogmation (talk) 17:14, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

This page needs an overhaul!
editThis page is bad! The format doesn't look good, the text is a mess, there are links and important gods missing, and the intro needs a complete rewrite. I'll add some of the missing stuff but formatting isn't really my thing so if someone else could do that.
Ikejd (talk) 13:28, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
I’m adding important gods. Also I don’t see an issue with listing by letters. CycoMa (talk) 00:16, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
Also is there any particular gods missing from this list? CycoMa (talk) 00:28, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
Possible vandalism?
editI couldn't find anything corroborating this (rather dubious) claim. Though I cannot ascertain it, it seems to be a joke on how Cizin's fingers in his page's depiction kind of look like he's holding a cigarette. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.205.79.26 (talk) 07:05, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
