editDoes Choun Nath fit in here somewhere? --Fang Aili 說嗎? 04:03, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Additions: 1955-1963
editI've added a bunch of material on the nature of Sihanouk's political system for the years 1955 to 1963. Most of it will source easily to Philip Short's book on Pol Pot.
The new material is quite different to what was on the page before. Sihanouk was a violent and often brutal dictator who didn't tolerate any opposition that wasn't controlled by him. Too much of what was on the page before was a reflection of the old mythology that Sihanouk was a great democratic ruler in the 1960s and Cambodia was a magical happy place during that period.
I would also like to see a general correction over time to the page as far as how Sihanouk worked. Sihanouk's system, whatever he called himself as a title, was about maintaining himself as king. He knew in the 1950s he could not rule as a traditional king. He figured out that he could only maintain power personally by putting the left against the right while he pulled the strings on both sides. 64.12.116.73 18:00, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Unannounced/undiscussed attempts to rewrite the article
editSomeone attempted to gut this article of content related to the Cambodian left. The history of the Cambodian left in the 1960s and the gradual movement toward civil war is an important part of Cambodian history that cannot be left out of this article. In future, please discuss radical changes to articles before making them. 168.127.0.51 16:34, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Someone else (perhaps) decided to tag the article professing their admiration of an individual by the name of nani... I didn't think a cambodian wikipedia entree was the most appropriate sounding board, so I deleted that portion. No blood, no foul, but send nani an email or something next time. Sorry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.231.229.42 (talk) 15:28, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Article Assessment
editThis article is really close to B class and has a lot of good information. It just needs some references and a few good images. Cheers, Paxse 05:24, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
The END of Sihanouk's rule is not described at all! 128.243.220.42 18:42, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Arms of cambodia.jpg
editImage:Arms of cambodia.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Title
editShouldn't the article be titled Cambodia under Sihanouk (1953–1970) (or something like Kingdom of Cambodia (1953–1970)) instead ? French Indochina existed until 1954, but Cambodia became independent, while still associated, the year before. JJ Georges (talk) 18:01, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Merge with The Sangkum?
editIs it possible this could be merged with the Sangkum article? This is a weak suggestion as I don't really know too much about Cambodian politics. --Dara (talk) 02:24, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Help with stub: Kingdom of Cambodia (1975-76)
editHello, I noticed there was a gap in the former states of Cambodia so I created Kingdom of Cambodia (1975-76); any help in expanding this stub would be much appreciated. Cheers, walk victor falk talk 04:40, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Cambodia (1953–1970) → Kingdom of Cambodia (1953–1970) – Most of the other versions of Wikipedia use some form of "Kingdom of Cambodia". Mucube (talk • contribs) 21:24, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- Support. Commonly referred to as the Kingdom to differentiate it from the Khmer Republic and Democratic Kampuchea. SnowFire (talk) 06:26, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
- Support move per above. O.N.R. (talk) 01:57, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
