Those articles might need to be deleted or merged into larger topic lists as well. Wikipedia has a lot of "newscruft" where there are articles about random news stories that aren't historically significant. An article about an event needs prolonged coverage after the story has stopped developing (usually months or years later), or it needs to meet the other criteria listed at WP:EVENTCRIT (which usually requires the event to affect entire populations in some way). Trimmed tag as there is extensive international coverage of the topic in question in major newspapers. The second criteria is "Events are also very likely to be notable if they have widespread (national or international) impact and were very widely covered in diverse sources" Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 05:34, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Humboldt fulfilled EVENTCRIT through its criminal charges, not the event itself. This still fails NEVENTS and I'll nominate it for deletion again after it's off the main page (per Schwede66's closure). EvergreenFir(talk)14:41, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I hate to break it to you Evergreen but this event does appear to meet all notability requirements. You can nominate it as often as you want to but there is enough significant and sustained national and international coverage for this event to refute any future nominations.
