Sisters Plus

Sisters Plus section does not have citation stating how they were infected. This citation only says that they are HIV positive without giving a source for their infection. The citation says they counsel commercial sex workers. LZ (talk) 02:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

I trimmed some of the biographical information. The three principles in this organization are described without last names, and with what appear to be pseudonyms, so this isn't really a biography. Anyway, this article is running long, so unless the biographical information makes a point about the organization, it can be omitted as tengential. / edg ☺ ☭ 17:14, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

The newly added section on Dalaw-Kalinga Foundation is way too long and contains no citations. Im going to trim it back to a few lines so it fits in with the rest of the article. It may be a good idea to create a seeperate article on its own also.Susanbryce (talk) 07:04, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

I added seven charities to the list that I had compiled and highlighted separately from Wikipedia on one page of my website, Manila Charities. Two of these had only minor references (US AID & Gawad Kalinga) while the other five are new additions and even if not all based in the Philippines, contribute here. I would like to add two more charities here soon with the purpose to help promote charitable activities here in the Philippines. A few major issues

I'm sorry to say that I saw a few major issues with this extremely well-intentioned article, and have had to redact it accordingly. The most fundamental issue here is that Wikipedia is not a directory. While a list of important charities is useful, a list of all charities would be better moved to a web-hosting service or a blog (the previous version of the article is saved in the history, so this should be easy to do). I'd also call the attention of this article's editors to some other policies that might be useful guides in building this article back up:

• Verifiability: It's important to verify information in Wikipedia articles through reliable secondary sources. I've deleted all charities that did not appear to have secondary source coverage in their links.
• WP:NOTABILITY: Remember that Wikipedia does not cover everything, only the "notable"--as determined by significant coverage in those same reliable sources. Some of the organizations listed here seem unlikely to meet that criteria, but any organization with a stand-alone article has met it automatically.
• WP:NPOV: It's important to keep a neutral tone in discussing organizations (which is why it's problematic at times to take descriptions straight from their advertising). It's okay, though, to say that "Organization X states that they 'do great things for lots of kids!'" But remember that if we include lengthy praise of an organization, we also have to make a good-faith effort to look for and include criticisms.
• WP:ADVERT: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so it's not appropriate to use it for advertising. This is why, for example, that lines like "Please see our Facebook page at..." have to be removed.
• WP:COI: Unfortunately, articles like this are a magnet for "conflict of interest" accounts--individuals who want to promote a specific organization with which they are involved, rather than build encyclopedic coverage generally. If you're here to promote a specific charity that you participate in, please review these guidelines before continuing.

I'm sorry to remove this much content, when it's obvious it was assembled with the best of intentions. Please review the links I've posted here and let's see if we can put together a more policy-appropriate version. I'll be glad to pitch in in the future in assembling more neutral, sourced coverage on the important topic of Filipino charities. Khazar2 (talk) 01:23, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

• I think that your last step went too far. More have crept back back in as a result, and many notable charities are excluded. Maybe a better idea would be to create some Articles for these charities. Some had already citations to newspaper articles. As it is a 'list of charities in The Philippines' and you only left about five or six, why bother with the page at all. I am proposing that we revert back to Khazar2 edit and then try to take them one by one, or discuss them one by one Boopolo (talk) 09:36, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
