Per naming convention, this should be at Carlota Joaquina of Spain (where this actually someday was) or Charlotte of Spain or Carlota of Spain. 217.140.193.123 8 July 2005 22:09 (UTC)

English-language histories of Brazil (and presumably of Portugal as well, though I am not sure) refer to the lady in question as "Carlota Joaquina", so Carlota Joaquina of Spain would be appropriate per Wikipedia naming convention. — Diamantina 08:30, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Should mention of Dom Joao VI, a play about his life, be listed on this page? http://www.ensaioaberto.com/djoao/index.htm Just an idea Dawn22 21:55, 24 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Charlotte of SpainCarlota Joaquina of Spain – This article was recently moved from "Carlota of Spain" to "Charlotte of Spain". According to the editor who requested the move, "Carlota of Spain has just 6 results, Charlotte of Spain has 180 results" (See discussion above). Perhaps what he ignored was that she is better known as "Carlota Joaquina" and there are 13,800 results [1] if you search for this name. Per WP:COMMONNAME this article should change to "Carlota Joaquina of Spain". Lecen (talk) 01:02, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment some of those hits are for a 1995 film by Carla Camurati called "Carlota Joaquina, Princesa do Brasil" , so might be regarded as false positives (or not, depending on what you consider about the film's relevance)? 70.24.248.23 (talk) 13:35, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Even if some of the results may be directed to the film, I hardly believe that they reach 13,800 results. Intead of typing "Carlota Joaquina" + "Brazil" you should try "Carlota Joaquina" + "Portugal": 18,300 results.[2] --Lecen (talk) 13:43, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Even if we search for "queen" + "portugal" + "carlota joaquina" we'll get 6,840 results. [3] Far more than the 6 results and 180 results shown in the topic above. --Lecen (talk) 14:12, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Support. A simple Google Books search shows over 8,000 results for "Carlota Joaquina" + queen. Even the old Encyclopedia Britannica used it. My only question is whether it should be 1) plain "Carlota Joaquina" (which would be the most common name, but perhaps not in line with WP:NCROY), 2) "Carlota Joaquina of Spain", or 3) "Carlota Joaquina of Portugal" (which seems to be somewhat more common than 2)). John, I believe it should be "from Spain" if we follow WP:NCROY as you mentioned yourself. --Lecen (talk) 18:13, 25 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Titles

After the elevation of Brazil to a Kingdom, and after the ascension of her husband (Dom João VI) to the throne until the independence of Brazil in 1822, she was: Her Most Faithful Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves. When Brazil became independent from Portugal, her eldest son (the now Emperor of Brazil), gave to his father the title Emperor of Brazil which she shared, so she became: Her Imperial and Most Faithful Majesty the Titular Empress of Brazil and Queen of Portugal and the Algarves. (Sometimes the style appeared as Her Imperial and Royal Majesty). 85.244.230.101 (talk) 11:27, 16 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
