Name

The website [1] has the official name (in Valencian) as Ciutat de les Arts i de les Ciències, i.e. with a second "de". Should this page be moved? 143.252.80.100 19:51, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Funding

Please, anyone have information of how this project was funded. I would dearly like to know, but it would also make a good addition to the page.--Amedeo Felix (talk) 14:01, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was move to City of Arts and Sciences. Per the discussion it appears to be well established in English sources. There's no consensus for using the Spanish form, nor any indication that it's more common in English usage. • Uncontroversial, support But Cymru123 I'd suggest amending the request to Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, not that any admin is going to think that "lAs" is part of the title, but there are so many freaky capitalisations on RM someone might think it's a stylism rather than you emphasizing where the mistake is = the feminine plural article. Change to oppose on procedural grounds - do we have to check the edit history on every RM? Cymru123, sorry but you should have said "renaming the page [when I moved it from Valencian to Spanish]". • I disagree with Cymru123's discordant move (Valencian Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències → Spanish "Ciudad de *LOS artes y las Ciencias"), as "City of Arts and Sciences" (English) is the most common translation, used on the internet (e.g. official site, books, blogs, etc.). The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is a unique complex devoted to scientific and cultural dissemination which is made up of five main elements: the Hemisfèric (IMAX cinema and digital projections), the Umbracle (a landscaped vantage point and car park), the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum (an innovative centre of interactive science), the Oceanográfico (the largest aquarium in Europe with over 500 marine species) and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (which takes care of the operatic programme). The Àgora gives the complex a multifunctional space.

• Whilst I agree with the English translation, if you check their website (for example the logo, not the translation into English and their copyright declaration at the bottom) and their use of social media, the Spanish translation is always used. This is why I changed the title into Spanish, rather than Valencian or English as the article couldn't be accessed via Wikipedia's search bar. The official name for the complex is Spanish, the 'City of Arts and Sciences' is merely a translation. Due to precedent, I believe that this article should remain with the Spanish name in accordance with other attractions in the Valencian Community which retain their official Valencian/Spanish names rather than their English translations. Also, another note - if anyone is going to edit the article, please do not change the names of the attractions within the complex from Valencian to Spanish. The attractions are officially named in Valencian. Examples of the use of Spanish in the English language can be found here:
