Molyneux Brow

edit

I believe Molyneux Brow station was at the northern end of Clifton Viaduct. I have checked www.old-maps.co.uk and the name appears on the line at that point. Unfortunately the M60 is now in the way, perhaps evidence of its existence vanished when the M62 was built. Parrot of Doom 11:04, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Further to this, if you check the website above, and go to co-ordinates 379200 by 403800, on the 1930 Lancashire and Furness map, the station is clearly visible. I've compared the two with Google Earth, and its clear that the M60 has obliterated any sign of the station. All thats left is a modern footbridge over the motorway. Molyneux Junction is shown slightly south of here, where the railway line crosses the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal near Hogg's Bridge, just to the east of Clifton Aqueduct. Further south, where the 2 lines meet, you find Clifton Junction station. Parrot of Doom 17:19, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Agreed - I have checked the 1893 OS Map, and Molyneux Brow Station is clearly shown due north of Clifton Aqueduct. It had two sidings, a signal box and a crane is also shown. paypwip (talk) 09:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, Molyneux Junction is shown immediately after (to the south) of the Viaduct and was located smack in the middle of what is now the Chloride works. paypwip (talk) 09:55, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
