Album title and DJ Semtex interview
editAccording to this interview with DJ Semtex, "The album's not called Cole World. You told me the title, but I—I—sorry, people, I can't snitch on that." (2:26)
What do we do with this article, especially since WP:HAMMER indicates an album's article should be deleted if the title and track list aren't known? —C.Fred (talk) 03:37, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- From this [article http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.11609/title.j-cole-says-debut-due-for-october-release] in HipHopDX from just days ago stated that in a really recent interveiw the title as "Cole World" Red Flag on the Right Side 03:58, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- And also I dont know what "vimeo" put it looks just like youtube and should be treated like a youtube source. Red Flag on the Right Side 04:06, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- YouTube, in and of itself, is neither reliable or unreliable—it's the reliability of the poster and/or the posted content that have to be weighed for reliability. Hence, my question of whether DJ Semtex is a reliable source. The other question is the timing of the interview: while it's posted as of July 4, when was the interview conducted?
- With contradictory sources, my inclination is to stay with the existing content unless superior sources—and ideally independent ones—state otherwise. —C.Fred (talk) 05:06, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Exactully HipHopDX is much more reliable than Dj Semtex. The fact is we don't even know when the interveiw happened. Red Flag on the Right Side 22:25, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- You can find the J. Cole and DJ Semtex interview at this link http://content.onsmash.com/archives/40637, where he clearly states that Cole World is not the title of the album. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.249.66.246 (talk • contribs) 05:15, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- That's the same interview clip with the same problems. The number of blogs that link to the clip does not give it any additional reliability. —C.Fred (talk) 14:32, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
"Premeditated Murder" source fail
editSaiyahog84 just removed "Premeditated Murder" from the confirmed tracks list, and I agree with the deletion. Here's the quote from the source: "Cole also performed 'Premeditated Murder,' a track that has been floating around the Web and is rumored to make the rapper's upcoming album."[emphasis added][1] Rumoured is not the same as confirmed. —C.Fred (talk) 02:52, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Would a heading change to "Possible tracks" or "Rumored tracks" be better? Red Flag on the Right Side 02:56, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Nope. The correct heading for those tracks is none; they should be omitted until they can be verified. —C.Fred (talk) 02:58, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Lost Ones Track
editJ. Cole stated in his last "Colestream" (Ustream) that a track entitled "lost ones" would be on his album. The song will be accompanied by a music video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxEzgr3THSI . That link provides a behind the scene look at the recording of the video. (few weeks later) HAHA i told you fools but everybody just deleted it, stupid idiots —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.51.125.216 (talk) 03:14, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
not Cole World
editlink:http://www.rap-up.com/2010/11/23/j-cole-eyes-spring-release-for-debut-album-reveals-collaborators/
he says And despite Cole World being thrown around, he has not announced an official title. “I never announced that as the name of the album, but it’s a sick title. I did think about that as a possibility, but as of right now, that’s not the title,” he states. “When I get a release date that I’m confident about, then I’ll put out the title of the album.” —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.177.65.137 (talk) 11:02, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Friday Night Lights
editThere is information from the Friday Night Lights (Mixtape) Wikipedia page I think is relevant to the background of this album and should be including in the article.
"The original tracks on the mixtape were intended to be on Cole's debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story. However, because the label did not believe it would sell, Cole released the original songs with extra freestyles as a mixtape, but was forced to redo the entire album. "In The Morning" featuring Drake, was the only record from the mixtape to make the album cut." - [1]
I think adding this will give people a decent sense of how this album came to be.
Also, Wet Dreamz from 2014 Forest Hills Drive was originally intended to be included on The Sideline Story during Cole's quest for a lead single. - [2]
Other tracks include Purple Rain, It Won't Be Long, We On, Relaxation, The Original In The Morning without Drake (which I won't be able to find a source for) , and The Plan/ I'm On It which was intended for unreleased the game NBA Elite 11. This is important to note his struggles to find a lead single which pushed the album back.
