Merger proposal

edit

I propose to merge Compact sport utility vehicle into Sport utility vehicle. Given the sometimes blurry distinction between sizes of SUVs (including different countries classifying the same vehicle into different size categories), I think it would be easier to put Compact SUVs into perspective if they are included in the SUV article. I would prefer to leave them separate. An SUV has a lot of luxury trim but is still a fully capable off-road vehicle. A crossover looks like an SUV but drives like a family car and is not really off-road capable. They look similar but drive completely differently.  Stepho  talk  20:41, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi Stepho. Just to clarify, this is just about the smaller size of separate chassis SUVs (eg Bronco II, S-10 Blazer, Vitara). I agree with maintaining separation to the crossovers, and think this won't be affected by the merger. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 22:19, 24 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Point taken. I suggest that the article should take pains to point out the difference between CUV (compact but still capable off-road SUVs) and CUV (crossover, really just tall wagons) because some fools mix them up.  Stepho  talk  07:58, 27 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Indeed. Putting taller springs in say a Toyota Yaris does not make for an SUV! Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 23:49, 27 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
But taller springs, a roof rack and chunky (black) wheel arch extensions does - at least for the marketing department :(  Stepho  talk  00:13, 28 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
That seems like a good example of why we shouldn't be beholden to the whims of marketing departments! 1292simon (talk) 12:59, 28 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Totally agree.  Stepho  talk  20:21, 28 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
