Talk:Congratulations (Roomie, PewDiePie, and Boyinaband song)

Merge

edit

I created a draft for this topic at Draft:Congratulations (PewDiePie song), and I only just found this article. I moved the content from the draft to this article. -Melofors (talk) 22:16, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Melofors: Ok, but don't include the last oaragraph in the number of views and subscribers as it sounds like you are describing a race. Also, you imply that there is a correlation between the video views and subscriber increase, but correlation doesn't always equal causation. Alright, no problem. I don't think I did, but sorry if I accidentally deleted something during the merge. -Melofors (talk) 22:45, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

This article needs help.

edit

A lot of repeated content in the stub and in the body of the article (almost all of "Composition and lyrics").

This article lacks depth in areas specific to it, where it should go further in-depth than the articles mentioning it. I believe such sections are:

  • Background: Talks about PewDiePie vs T-Series, but "Bitch Lasagna," the first and only other diss track PewDiePie made about T-Series 5 months prior is conspicuously absent.
  • Ban in India: The release of this video caused this one and "Bitch Lasagna" to be banned in India. This article ought to provide decent insight into why and what happened next, if such insight exists.

I'm opening this topic of conversation because I don't have the domain-specific knowledge to fill in all of this article's gaps right now. Hoping others may be able to identify an issue they have particular knowledge to help construct a solution for! —Shrinkydinks (talk) 02:08, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Roomie

edit

Can someone make a page for Roomie? He has over 5 million subs and is a prominent Swedish youtuber and if we get enough info, we can make the page. Tropetroop29 (talk) 20:05, 11 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Tropetroop29: Be bold and make it yourself, but please read Your First Article before. Thanks, Willbb234Talk (please {{ping}} me in replies) 20:10, 11 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations (PewDiePie, Roomie and Boyinaband song)Congratulations (PewDiePie song) – The song is by PewDiePie. Roomie and Boyinaband are featured in the song and should not be in the title. —  Melofors  TC  18:58, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

They're all credited as lead artists according to digital music services. "Standard protocol" is to credit all of them in the article's title. DovahDuck (talk) 20:21, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ym2X: Why the order change? —  Melofors  TC  00:50, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Melofors: It's just that those sources all list the names in that order and it rolls off the tongue slightly better, however I'm not sure the order particularly matters. Ym2X (talk) 10:04, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ym2X: In that case, an alphabetical order would be better, so Congratulations (Boyinaband, PewDiePie and Roomie song). —  Melofors  TC  17:19, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Melofors: I just took a closer look at WP:SONGDAB and it says "include all performers as they are credited in the single cover" so I assume that means you'd go with how itunes/other music vendors credit it over alphabetical order. Ym2X (talk) 23:04, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ym2X: Seems fair then. Also, wouldn't it be Congratulations (Roomie, PewDiePie, and Boyinaband song) with a comma after "PewDiePie", rather than without the comma? Is there a ruling on Wikipedia for how commas should be used when listing items? —  Melofors  TC  03:39, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Melofors: Not sure about a general rule, but the article listed as an example at WP:SONGDAB is Bang Bang (Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj song) which does not have a comma after Ariana Grande, so I imagine Congratulations (Roomie, PewDiePie and Boyinaband song) would be the correct format. Redirects could be made for other variations. Ym2X (talk) 10:46, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ym2X: Seems like Congratulations (Roomie, PewDiePie and Boyinaband song) is the better option in this case. I'll have this discussion closed and move it to that, then. Thank you! —  Melofors  TC  13:14, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
