William Penn Business Institute
editI have been fleshing out this article which is badly in need of some care and see that she is credited with study at William Penn University, which is located in Oskaloosa, Iowa. However, the contemporary article I can find seems to indicate that she was returning to "William Penn Business Institute". Based on ads [1] and articles in The Crisis (the NAACP magazine), it seems to be a Black-only vocational school. E.g. "Office Positions Open NOW. FOR QUALIFIED APPLICANTS. YOU can earn up to $250.00 a month immediately after one year’s training at WILLIAM PENN BUSINESS INSTITUTE. Our Placement Agency will assist you in securing a well-paying position. Courses offered in Stenography, Business Administration, Sales Promotion, […] 1530 Lombard St., Philadelphia 46, Pa. PEnnypacker 5-9831. For further information, write C. W. MAXWELL, President". Given that Morgan is quoted as saying her goal is to be a "top-flight worker in a business office", this seems far more likely than a private liberal arts college in Iowa.
