When I first read this article, it was all about the island with only the infobox and two paragraphs were dedicated to the subject of aquatic reserve. The following was carried out:

  1. Removed the “Tweed Shire suburbs” navbox from this article because Cook Island is not gazetted as a suburb, although it is apparently located within the Tweed Shire.
  2. Created a new article for the Cook Island Nature Reserve.
  3. Created a new article for the island entitled Cook Island (New South Wales) and move the content re history of the island from this article to the new article. Cook Island, New South Wales was not used because it is linked to a number of pages associated with the history of this article.
  4. Re-organised this article and expanded its content
