Rock and Roll Hall of fame
editCountry Joe and The Fish have been overlooked by the Rock and Roll Hall of fame long enough. 2005 marks the 40th Anniversary of this historic band. Country Joe has continued the legacy with recent performaces of The Country Joe Band. The band released a one song CD in 2004 called "Cake Walk To Baghdad" - the song was penned by bassist Bruce Barthol. Barry "The Fish" Melton does not perform as part of the Country Joe Band, however, he continues a viable and vibrant solo career. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.85.230.66 (talk • contribs) 00:01, 13 November 2004

Photo
editThe photo at lower right near the bottom of the page with the caption: "Country Joe, touring in the Cropredy Festival, 2005" is NOT Country Joe, but one of his bass players. Please correct and / or remove photo. Thanks—Preceding unsigned comment added by Davequ (talk • contribs) 10:06, 7 March 2010
- I think you're right. I'll remove it. Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:09, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Name?
editStalin's nickname in the 1940s was Uncle Joe, not Country Joe (unless there's another one that I've never heard). What is the source of the line in the article that claims the "Country Joe" part of the group name was taken from Stalin's nickname? Intothatdarkness (talk) 21:09, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Proposed merge with David Bennett Cohen
editSee the closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Bennett Cohen which sets the scene for the discussion. There are pros and cons. Fiddle Faddle 09:34, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose merger. Ample scope for developing Cohen article, demonstrated by Allmusic biography, other sources like this and this, and multiple published works. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:41, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've now expanded the article somewhat. Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:58, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Note in case it is not obvious, that this is a procedural nomination. I choose at this stage not to express a view. Fiddle Faddle 09:49, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Support until a time when there truly is enough information and reliable sources to back it up for it to be a separate article. Technical 13 (talk) 13:26, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose merger: With the expansion of this individual article having just taken place, I believe this should remain a stand-alone and not a merge. It has surely grown beyond the stub class. Fylbecatulous talk 23:50, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- I have thusly changed the WP:Biography class rating to 'start". Fylbecatulous talk 23:55, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Electric Music
editIn the last paragraph, the claim is that "in the summer of 1968.[20] Hirsh suggested that instead of the opening chorus spelling 'fish', it would spell 'fuck', giving birth to the infamous 'Fuck Cheer'" The band used the "Fuck Cheer" on Sunday, June 11, 1967, at the Mt. Tamalpais Magic Mountain Music Festival. So while it may be true that Hirch made such a suggestion in the summer of '68, the cheer was at least a year old by that time. I was there, heard it, and sang, pardon 'spelled' along. ToastmasterJohn (talk) 02:23, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- You may well be right, but do you have a reliable source that allows it to be added to the article? Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:37, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Casady was a guest helping out ....
editJack Casady was a friend and stand-in while the band searched for a new bassist - he never left the Jefferson Airplane. The article reads suggesting he was part of the group, and this should be clarified. 50.111.22.47 (talk) 07:22, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
