More than one county

edit

It seems as though only Berks & Bucks and Leics & Rutland cover more than one (traditional) county. If this is true, the statement that 'a few' cover more than one county is wrong, and should be corrected. In any case, the statement could be explained in more detail. County football associationCounty Football Association – The page was previously moved (without any discussion, as far as I can see) from the capitalised version last year by Mauls, with the rationale that the name is a generic descriptor rather than the title of one specific organisation. However, as shown in the sources given, the FA consistently use the capitalised form to refer to a particular type of organisations within their structure, not all of which actually represent counties (eg FAs for Crown dependencies, forces, amateur and schools football, cities). So it's an official term with a specific meaning, rather than just a generic name. Jellyman (talk) 09:19, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Oppose: Wikipedia MOS is quite clear that 'terms of art' or official terms, even if capitalized elsewhere, are not capitalized in Wikipedia. Only proper nouns are capitalized. 'County football association' is a noun describing a whole group of associations, not a single specific association. If used in a specific term (e.g. Hampshire County Football Association) it is a proper noun. In this article title, it is not. Therefore this proposal is against policy. Universities still counted?

edit

From the lead: "Several institutions have county FA status in their own right, including Cambridge and Oxford universities,", yet neither are in the list below, and neither are on the FA's page linked in External. Are they still counted in their own right? 146.112.56.123 (talk) 02:31, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
