My grandmother was a Coushatta, her name was Nancy Johnson married a Frenchman named Arnold Janice which has different spellings such as Janis Janice Johnice Johnese. If anyone has and knowledge of the Johnson family from Kinder,Louisiana and Jefferson Davis Parish please contact me via email randysgirlls@aol.com The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana (Coushatta: Kowassaatiha) is one of three federally recognized tribes of Koasati people. They are located in Allen and Jefferson Davis Parishes, Louisiana. The tribe hosts an annual pow wow during the second weekend in June.I would love to know more. I was told my grandmother was Either Cherokee or Choctaw but this find is different. Thanks in advance

A large addition about Coushatta history was added. Useful information, but it was a direct word for word copy from http://www.coushattatribela.org/history.html -- at the bottom of that page it says: "©Copyright 2006, Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. All Rights Reserved. Not to be copied, reprinted, reproduced, etc. without permission." So I removed it. See WP:COPYVIO. Pfly (talk) 23:57, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
