Stoke-Derby Line
editNote - this is a copy of a discussion from my talk page Pickle 16:47, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Hello, I think you should be aware that the Stoke-Derby Line is just a part of the Crewe-Derby-Nottingham line and that the entire service runs through from Crewe to Derby with most trains continuing to Nottingham, Grantham and Skegness. There is no separate Derby-Stoke service. Perhaps you would reconsider your latest edit. NoelWalley 12:18, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- My reply on your talk page
- Hi Pickle. Have I seen you on Railchat? The issue of Wikpedia names for lines is a bit artificial. Stoke-Skegness particularly so as it is made up of fragments of various lines, and some of us want to build up a history of railway lines. A simple example is the Hope Valley Line which is the combination of two former railways, plus a fragment of a third. Chevin 08:44, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Pickle and Chevin,
- Not quite sure where we are at on this. I think mine was the last relevent change to Stoke-on-Trent. Situation now is that the North Stafford Railway's Crewe to Derby line now only has through trains between Crewe and Derby. Extended services to Nottingham, Grantham and Skegness have all been withdrawn. I now see no justification for mentioning Stoke in connection with Skegness. NoelWalley 09:25, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've also written to Noel after his note me. I jumped in after the edit to Derby Station, so I'm a bit out of synch. I note there is a page on the Crewe to Derby Line based on its original history. The present day official name is different for different bits, of course. What I hadn't cottoned on to was that the issue seems to be the infobox at the bottom of Derby station, dealing with present day trains. I should say that they also don't stop at Peartree. - To follow, previously on Chevin's Talk: Thanks for your note, there is one train daily in each direction between Derby and Crewe that calls at Peartree. As far as I can judge there are no calls at Peartree on the so called Cardiff to Nottingham Line (Birmingham-Derby). Regards, NoelWalley 13:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- Update*
Reading the new East Midland Franchise document [1] (PDF) this line appears to be names by the DFT / Network Rail / etc as the "North Staffordshire Line" - thought for a rename ??? Pickle 19:53, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- The report writer's themselves say things like "this is very new etc". They are only just beginning to talk about this line, only just got a partnership officer, no immediate plans, which in any case they consistantly refer to as Crewe-Derby throughout the report. To change the title now is to introduce confusion where there is none. When anyone mentions 'North Staffordshire Line' one automatically thinks North Staffordshire Railway and that is very much more than Derby-Stoke-Crewe. In any case its not even a good title for a railway service that begins in Cheshire and ends in Derbyshire. Please leave well alone. NoelWalley 20:35, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- ;) Just mentioning, not intending to edit .... Pickle 19:10, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Pictures
editBoth of the pictures on the page are of class 170 turbostars which haven't operated on the line since nov. 2007. Has anyone got any photos of single car class 153s on the line as these now operate 99% of services — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.181.77.135 (talk) 17:53, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
